One of the only rescues around that was open on a Sunday morning when I encountered ducklings in need of assistance in Lakewood! The group was nearly hit by myself and several other drivers coming around a corner on a busy road by a park. I parked nearby to guide them out of the road to the side they seemed to be wanting to cross to, then realized there was no mom around, on either side of the road! Waited about half an hour with the ducklings, guarding them from lurking crows and away from traffic until the rescue opened and then I called, and recieved a call back within 30 minutes with very detailed guidance for helping me through capturing the ducklings and bringing them north. They even checked the area to see if there was a rescue closer to me that I could take them to! Once we made it to Lynnwood, the process was quick and the ducklings, once checked out, were guaranteed to grow with a community of other ducklings they have currently in their care. I wish they had a wildlife care facility here in Pierce County. There is such a need for a place like this!

I can't say enough good about this place. We adopted Duke who was a Doberman gladiator in 1991. He was about 8 years old but he contributed a lot to our family life and all three of my boys remember him fondly. Recently I needed to rehouse two male kittens that I ended up with. When they began overwhelming me to the point of kitticide, I turned to PAWS for help. I wanted them to stay together coz they were brothers, and -- just as with children -- they needed each other to be happy at that point. They were about four months old. It's one thing to separate them at two months old but at four months old..that's kind of rude. Thanks to PAWS, I was able to do that very easily. Actually, the girl who came to my new apartment to pick them up and take them to PAWS fell in love with my boys!!! I think she volunteers there.

Don’t bother. Heartless place, pretending to care. I found a baby bird in the yard. Called and sent them a picture and they told me to bring it in because it appears its foot is swollen. I left my family on July 4th, drove 40 min. to go take the bird. After examining, they said the baby is fine and to return it back to the yard. I explained that we have neighborhood cats in our yard every day and the bird had already wondered into the neighbor’s yard where they have a big dog. I knew that this baby had a zero survival rate. But I was told politely there was no room for a tiny baby bird in their facility because it wasn’t injured. To say I’m upset is an understatement. Now the bird needs to be eaten because it’s gonna take too much space and eat too much food in their facility. Sickening!

DO NOT GO HERE WITH BABY BUNNIES. If you have eastern cotton tails or other common critters please bring them to Sarvey Wildlife Care Center or somewhere else. I found a few baby cotton tails under our tractor in the field after our neighbour's dog dug one out. The one the dog found was thankfully fine, just a little slobber on it and no obvious injuries. I gathered them all up in a box to keep them together and help the other feel less stressed. I brought them to PAWS immediately and explained the situation. They took them to the back to assess them and told me there were no obvious injuries but may be internally for the one that was in the dogs mouth. The best they could offer me was euthanasia for all these baby bunnies who were fine and just needed to be fed for a week because they were close to independence. So apparently PAWS will euthanize healthy baby animals and that's the best they can do. I said no and took them back home because it was too late to go anywhere else. I called a place in Arlington called Savey Wildlife Care Center and they were absolutely amazing, I took them there the next morning and there was no mention of euthanasia, they don't discriminate on the type of animal, they accept bunnies and squirrels and all sorts of common little critters. Needless to say I will be going here from now on and donating to them as well. I will not be supporting PAWS. Also, PAWS CEO makes over $500,000/yr so maybe if they paid people with qualifications to work there instead of relying on free labor they wouldn't have a shortage of volunteers. No one can afford to volunteer their time and skills for free. Looks like your Ceo is doing just fine though. I wonder how much money they made during covid. I wonder how much money they're taking way from this so...

PAWS is a fantastic organization for wildlife and it saddens me that multiple people have left angry reviews because a wild animal was euthanized. The public at large does not seem to understand the stark reality of wildlife rehab. I used to volunteer for a rehab center, and the truth is this: for as many animals that can be helped, there are dozens more that simply cannot be saved because they are too sick, too injured, or because there are only so many resources for wildlife. Most wildlife centers rely on a small dedicated staff and VOLUNTEERS to care for thousands of animals, often within a radius of hundreds of miles. They operate on thin margins and must make sure they can fully care for their patients. The decision to euthanize is never made lightly. I wish those who left negative reviews understood the breadth of dedication, compassion, and care involved in wildlife rehab, and the exhausting toll it can take. These animals have no one else. There are only so many that can be saved. The decision to give a sick, injured animal the last act of kindness is never without consideration. I rescue city pigeons with the full understanding that many will not make it. But I can trust PAWS to make the most compassionate choice and relieve their suffering. They have always accepted the pigeons I've brought and given some a chance to rejoin their flocks. As it is, if you're going to leave an angry review, please do a modicum of research into the field. Birds that are ill or injured enough to be caught by people are often severely unwell and at the end of their life. PAWS will give them a chance or, if necessary, an end to suffering. I for one will always be...

This is my first negative review on social media and reason why I writing that because of the memory little baby bird what I trusted them .I drove through traffic almost 3 hours . Did little donation, just hoping what they can help. Nope, only I got cold email saying because " unfortunately, the animal you brought to us Paws wildlife center was euthanized because of severe injuries" Hello I knew that from night I found her, that is why I was hoping for the help. She was eating , drinking and started been little active after I made for her warm place to sleep. Only I can say you not ever was trying safe her, it is obvious. And your "non-profit" organization taking donation just kill wild life fur babies because you don't want give them time for recovery and chance to live. I will never ever come back or suggest your place. I will better find places where I can get education how help that babies. And I suggesting everyone who read my review please don't trust them , don't waste your time and money. Better find support group on social media who really do care and education classes. From bottom of my heart , please look in eyes in that little fur baby what you have in your hands now and give second chance to live because " Paws Wildlife Center" will not...
