I would not give this establishment any rating but it is the only way it will let you post to it. My name is Kurt Emmick, Brevard County resident for over 50 years. We have been blessed with two fine young men in our family. One is a solider in the United States Army and the other is a patron who has manufactured and fired tactical firearms, holds numerous licenses/certificates in tactical training and belongs to two Pistol Teams. On his birthday he wanted to go to what we thought was a first class range with his father and mother and girlfriend to see his father (me) fire the AR that he built himself for his dad for X-Mas and to fire his tactical training AR to see if he fixed the bugs in it. The young ladies on the entrance side were polite and informed us that the range closing time was approaching in an hour and a half. We had no problem with that, paid and proceeded. When we went to the rifle range the mood changed. The range officer immediately challenged my son about firing the tactical weapon because of its make. My son informed him of the change in the law and it was legal to fire there, the Range Officer quickly changed his tune, but not saying "I was unaware of that, sorry for my ignorance". My sons girlfriend was a first time shooter and I with a new weapon needed help from my son during hot and cold range times. Range was cold, my son tried to move a 50 yd. target post over to his lane and the officer yelled you can't do that, (there was only two other shooters 4 lanes away from us), did he come over and ask why we wanted it moved or if he could be of help, give and explanation on why we could not move it...NO. During firing I had problems with my weapon, while his girlfriend was firing my son came to my aid, the officer came up to her and yelled at her that if she put another round into the wood that we were out of there. Stern and cold with no offer of suggestive help. I thought I was back in Basic with a drill instructor ready to pounce on my every mistake. We were informed that the range was closing after two more hot fires so my son wanted to go next door to the pistol range. I took the rifles to the car, he and his girl friend proceeded to pistol range, officer there said the range was closed, which was fine but my son said while they approached one of the other officers said ( What The F**k Is This ) probably referring to my son and his girl friends piercings and tattoos. I could take the fact the range was closing, we did get there too late, but the insult was uncalled for and not to my liking. The girls waited at the car and I went back and asked the men, who just insulted my son? The Veteran informed us, he said nothing to the affect. My son pointed to the other officer saying it was him, which he denied. So I guess we were lying. My son informed them that he was a paying customer and he didn't appreciate the insult and they can keep their range that he nor his pistol team will ever come back. Just remember this is SUPPOSE to be a Family oriented place to have fun and be safe, while spending a day of shooting. Thank You Kurt Emmick

Title: Incredible Experience at Indian River Shooting Range in Sebastian, Florida!
Hey Google community! I wanted to share our amazing experience at the Indian River Shooting Range in Sebastian, Florida. It was an unforgettable family activity that brought together 10 people ranging from 16 years of age up to 75, all of whom had no prior experience with guns.
From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Joe, one of the dedicated staff members at the range. Joe took the time to understand our group's needs and preferences, making sure to create a program that would be enjoyable for everyone. He collaborated with his coworker Sharon to design a shooting program that was tailored to our group's skill level (0) and interests.
As first-time shooters, we had no idea how to set up or handle firearms. We were guided every step of the way and safety was their top priority. They patiently explained the basics and even advised us on the optimal distance for our targets, taking into consideration our novice status.
What made the experience truly outstanding was the supportive and positive atmosphere fostered by Joe and Sharon. Despite our lack of experience, they never made us feel uncomfortable or criticized. Instead, they provided continuous encouragement, helping us gain confidence and enjoy the experience to the fullest.
We had an absolute blast! Our family couldn't have asked for a better time. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Joe, Sharon, and the entire staff for their professionalism, expertise, and kindness. Their dedication made a significant difference in our experience.
I must also mention the generosity and helpfulness of other participants, like Charlie, who were present on the day of our visit. The camaraderie among fellow shooting enthusiasts added an extra touch of warmth and made the day even more memorable.
To anyone considering a visit to the Indian River Shooting Range in Sebastian, Florida, we highly recommend it. You can trust the staff to provide a safe, enjoyable, and personalized experience, regardless of your skill level. The Fox family is incredibly grateful for the wonderful time we had!!
