We had an amazing time riding out on the beach. We all have current experience riding (English not Western) and so took a private ride with the hope of getting to trot and canter.

The ride out to the beach is across sand dunes, and is very picturesque. The horses were really well behaved and only occasionally tried to eat the grass 😂 Once we were on the beach our guide checked in with us, set some quick boundaries and then we were off, trotting along the sand! My daughter felt a little nervous cantering, so the guide took my daughter's lead rope and ponied her at the canter. I really appreciated that flexibility. Once we got moving, the horses were happy and excited to run! Before then they were very mellow, so I highly recommend these rides for either novice or experienced riders. Only thing to be aware of is that the ride to the beach is hilly and takes 30 mins each way, so you only spend a Mac of 20-30 minutes trotting and cantering. That was enough for us though.

I also really appreciated that many of them horses had been bought at auctions and rescued from feed lots. They were well trained and clearly quite happy doing the work...

Horse N Around Trail Rides was professional, responsive, and flexible; they truly care about their horses and their customers and want to make sure EVERYONE has a great time! Not all barns employ that same approach, but I sure wish they did. What a fantastic spot- our group rode in late March and while the dunes were windy, it was spectacular! Our guide, Addy, was accommodating and made sure we had a BLAST while also keeping us and the horses safe! Elmer was able to pack around a larger rider, which isn’t feasible everywhere; we so appreciated the opportunity! 😊 The dunes are one of the most gorgeous landscapes I’ve ever seen, can’t recommend that ride highly enough. A must do experience if visiting Bodega Bay! I did the 90 min beach ride. Friendly team and the most memorable and gorgeous horse riding trail. The stroll on the beach is so nice bc there’s like no one else there but you and the horses and it’s the perfect sand and so clean. The ride to the beach through the coastal dunes and colorful plants is in itself a beautiful ride. Great weather and easy to ride horses. Team was extremely nice to us because I was unable to make my morning ride but they were so kind to reschedule us to the afternoon start time. Would do this again if I come back to Bodega Bay
