First off I want to say the one star isn't for the quality of the course, the course would get five stars all day long. This one star is for the extremely poor customer service we received during our last visit. I play allot of golf during the year, at least once a week and I have never been treated like this. We play this course the day after Thanksgiving every year, this year two of the four people no call no showed, not the fault of my self or my playing partner. I let the person working the pro shop know, the person who turned out to be the assistant golf pro John Neri. John informed us that we would need to pay for the other tee times if the remaining 2 of our group didn't show up and to check in at the turn to let him know if they had made it. I checked in at the turn and John seemed rather upset that the two hadn't shown stating that there was a 24hr cancelation policy and that they would have had the opportunity to sell the two spots had I given them 24hr notice. I explained that I didn't have notice that the other 2 hadn't given me any notice, he then reluctantly stated he would eat one of the tee times and only charge me for one of the no shows, all of this with quite an attitude as if I had done something wrong. I didn't have my wallet on me at the turn so I let him know I would return after the round. While continuing our round we noticed that the course was relatively empty and there were a couple of twosomes that were playing. After we had noticed this I looked up the booking information I received via email and checked the cancelation policy, the policy states that if you want to cancel or reduce the number of players, please do so 24hrs before the tee time. Nothing stating that the player is responsible financially for any reduction of players or canceling after 24hrs prior to tee time. After the round I returned to the pro shop, I informed John about the cancelation policy and was met with attitude, he then told me that they have a 24hr cancelation policy and to hold on while he checked it, he then red it out loud and turned to me and said see we have a 24hr policy. I then Informed him that no where in that did it state that the other players would be financially responsible, he then very aggressively said fine we will eat it and turned away. I'm sorry if this seems like a rant I just don't want any of my fellow golfers being treated this way and unjustly charged due to the lack of knowledge of policy's by the staff. If it wasn't for this interaction with staff it would have been an amazing day and the, course was in great...
Read moreToday was one of the most mixed-emotions of a round I've had in a long time. The Links at Bodega Bay was as beautiful as it was a let down. Panoramic ocean and bay views on every hole, but every hole left you wanting the course to be so much better.
A few very strong holes, but way too many uninteresting ones. The biggest problem was fairway and rough conditions. White flowering weeds have taken over and the rough was so long it was lost ball prone. I understand a lot of rain has soaked this area recently, so I get it. The greens were very good, although a little slower than I expected. The houses tho...so many houses right on top of the course! The opening tee shot was the most nervous I've ever been. Uphill tee shot with a slight bend to the left with houses lining both sides. You cannot miss a shot here without being a lost ball or broken window.
Holes 4 and 6 were the best of the bunch on the front 9, 5 was maybe the oddest hole I've ever played.
The real draw here is the approach to 15 - 17 when you get done by the ocean. Then 18 is again a really awkward hole.
The property HAD tons of potential, but it's been choked out of any possibility of being a really good golf course by the development around it.
All that said, we loved the scenery and had fun playing, but it's a round I'll...
Read moreGot to play this little gem of a course this past week. On the day we played, it was overcast with a 10-15 MPH wind gusting throughout our round. From the tips, it plays just under 6300 yards. With the wind and elevation changes, it definitely plays a lot longer than the scorecard. The course was in fine condition considering the severe drought we are having in California. The fairways are very firm and greens rolled nicely. The opening holes are challenging as they play uphill and the fairways are narrow. The back 9 is more level with holes 16 and 17 located in an environmentally sensitive area. You have to park your cart on the path and bring your clubs with you to play out hole 16 and then 17. On hole 18, it requires a lay up and downhill carry to reach the green. I lost a ball there because I had no idea how the hole played. Local knowledge would’ve helped or just a sign at the tee box like the one on the downhill par 5 on the front. I’ll definitely be back to play it again, but maybe in the Fall when the sun is out and the...
