Wow. We took the Sacred Canyons Loop hike with Derrick Bond, our Guide from Trail Lovers, last week. It was a really wonderful experience, both practically and physically! From a practical standpoint, we were picked up on time, were provided with all the gear we would need (including water, snacks, etc.), were coached on where we were going/what to expect, and were really (really!) impressed with the wealth of information and true appreciation/passion that Derrick had for the area. Derrick made us feel really at ease and was able to answer all our (nerd!) questions about plants, animals, community, history, etc. He was one of the best Guides we have ever had in our numerous adventures around this big world! In the physical column, Derrick quickly assessed our skill level and modified our hike according to our abilities, interests, & time constraints. He consistently monitored our "status", but we never felt pushed or patronized as we went. We were tired, but very happy at the end of our 5-ish mile jaunt. We felt like we had had a much more personalized introduction to Sedona's landscape than most people do, and we were grateful for it. (We even got to experience a beautiful Sedona sunset! Red rocks indeed!) If you are looking for a real understanding and connection with the beautiful Sedona countryside, go take a hike. And ... make sure you do it with Trail Lovers ... they are fantastic!!

Best experience ever!! Book with Trail Lovers, you will be so glad you did. I reached out to Trail Lovers via the chat button on their website at 1am Thursday morning 2/29 and by 6am I had a response. My message asked if they had availability for a night hike, today. I am extremely blessed that the owner, Jason, made himself available to take me out for a two hour dark sky night hike. I have been hiking most of my life while growing up in the high desert of New Mexico and Northern California. The experience I had, with Jason as my guide, was one of the most incredible I’ve had. Trail Lovers literally prepares everything needed, including gloves, neck warmer, healthy snacks, water, night vision monoculars, the coolest green laser pointer and so much more. Jason is knowledgeable, passionate, kind, and a straight up good human. He shared his knowledge of the area, native plants, animals, and some really cool history about Sedona. We stargazed and talked story and he took some incredible night photos for me. Thank you for sharing your love and passion for our beautiful Earth, and this deeply sacred place, with us! I will be back in July during monsoon season for another night hike. I can’t wait! Much gratitude, April Souza

If you're planning a trip to Sedona, stop what you're doing and book a hike with Jason Danoff and his company, Trail Lovers! My husband and I recently went on two hikes with Jason, and they were the absolute highlight of our two-week adventure out West. We started with the Sacred Canyons Loop (Long Canyon, Deadman’s Pass, and Mescal Trails) and followed up the next day with Brins Mesa in the Secret Mountain Wilderness. The scenery was nothing short of breathtaking, but it was Jason who made these hikes truly unforgettable.

First off, Jason’s attention to detail is unmatched. He showed up in a spotless, modern van packed with everything we could possibly need: crisp, new gear, an assortment of snacks and drinks, and every comfort we didn’t even think to ask for. Need sunscreen? A low-carb Paleo lunch? SPF-50 lightweight hoodie? Hiking sticks? Jason had it ALL. He made the hike completely seamless.

But what really set Jason apart was his knowledge and passion for the landscape. He’s an expert naturalist and botanist, and throughout the hike, he shared fascinating details about the plants, animals, and history of the area. It felt like we were hiking with the coolest, most engaging professor—part botany, part zoology, part anthropology, all rolled into one. It added so much depth to our experience that we’d never have gotten on our own.

Our trip included visits to several national parks and even a luxurious stay at Amangiri, but when we talk about what we want to do again, hiking with Trail Lovers is at the top of the list! Hiking with Trail Lovers was hands-down the most special part of our vacation, and we can't recommend them enough. Trail Lovers is worth every penny and then some. If you’re hiking in Sedona, do yourself a favor—book Jason. You will...

My husband and I went on a night hike last night with Jason and let me say hands down the best experience we had in Sedona by far. I feel like we started saying how much fun and how great of a time it was barely 20 min into the hike. Mind you I am extremely inexperienced and do not do much activity (also I am pregnant and never once did I feel like I couldn’t make it or needed to stop for a break) so for me to be saying this is pretty massive. The hike was beautiful and he chose the perfect two places to go that were super fitting for our level. When we reached our first destination we got there right before sunset and we got the most beautiful pictures we’ve taken yet in Sedona. Jason is extremely professional, friendly, knowledgeable and is really great at explaining the wildlife and plants as you hike. For someone with limited knowledge of my surroundings it was very informative and I really enjoyed learning all of it. We had great conversation and this company is just overall a major winner when coming to visit sedona. We chose the night hike so the funnest part began once the sun set. I believe he offers many other hikes and different time durations but if you’re considering choosing Trail Lovers please do! PS he also brings the best snacks and and offers waters and seltzers so if you forget to bring anything do not worry I swear this company has anything you could need...
