I wish I did not have to write this review because I really wanted to like ALDI. But the truth is that Selma's ALDI is a downgrade from Winn-Dixie. Winn-Dixie was one of the few remaining nice places that was left in Selma before it left. It was large, beautiful, many selections, and well-organized. And it also offered a Deli, a fresh Seafood section, a Bakery, a Pharmacy, a Western Union/money order service, and great customer service. And when a nice place like that leaves a small town, at the very least you want it to be replaced with a place/grocery store that's just as nice. But that did not happen. Instead, apparently after doing research, ALDI decided to put a small version of ALDI in Selma. And, unfortunately, it's a huge disappointment. Selma's ALDI is only half the size of Winn-Dixie and probably even smaller than that. Additionally, Selma's version of ALDI is not well-organized because everything is cramped up together, Selma's ALDI is not as beautiful as Winn-Dixie, Selma's ALDI has no deli, Selma's ALDI has no fresh Seafood section, Selma's ALDI has no Bakery, Selma's ALDI has no Pharmacy, and Selma's ALDI has no customer service desk for Western Union/money order service, etc. Selma's ALDI offer only a very few selections which is mostly name brands that you don't trust because you never heard of them before. Also, after my ALDI visit, I did not see absolutely anything that resembled low prices. In other words, I did not see the "lowest prices on town" that ALDI normally advertises. Instead, I saw normal prices just like the other stores in Selma. And the biggest problems of all are the "bring your own bag" and "quarter cart" system. Bringing your own bag and putting a quarter in a cart for collateral is expensive and extra effort. If you are putting the expense and effort on the customers themselves to bring their own bags AND putting a quarter inside a cart just to use it, at the very least it should be worth it in terms of the store should be just as good as Winn-Dixie or better and also the prices should be lower than other stores. But that's not the case with Selma's ALDI. Selma's ALDI is not worth bringing your own bags and putting a quarter inside of a cart just to use it because Selma's ALDI is cramped up, not well-organized, normal prices and not the advertised low prices, and very few options to choose from. At the end of the day, Selma's ALDI is a ripoff. Mr. Moss is soon to be the new mayor in Selma. And one of the best things he can do for Selma is to bring a better grocery store than ALDI back to Selma in that same area. There's available space right across the street from Selma's ALDI on which hopefully a new grocery store can be put there to compete with ALDI. Now, to be honest, the available space across the street already has a ARMY office over there as well as a paid storage that was a waste of time because apparently no one is using it. So the truth is that I don't know if a real grocery store can fit over there in the old Winn-Dixie space at this point. But if a real grocery store can fit over there, Mayor Moss needs to see can he convince another grocery store like Kroger, Publix, Food City, Piggly Wiggly, or someone else to come here and give that side of town and the Orville natives and a better grocery store than Selma's ALDI so Selma can have a better grocery store with a better experienc, better quality, and more good paying jobs especially for young adults in Selma but also for the older adults as well.. And if ALDI decides to leave one day, I hope a better grocery store buys the building they are using and put a better grocery store there that was just as good as Winn-Dixie if not better. And some grocery stores that would be better than Selma's ALDI are names like Kroger, Publix, Food City, Piggly Wiggly, Whole Foods, etc. In conclusion, the city of Selma does not deserve Selma's ALDI. The city of Selma deserves...
