I have a 45 year history of all things building and have made myself cabinets and done some design consulting etc. I am now retired and have some disability and mobility issues. I couldn't find a cabinet to replace a vacated sub zero refrigerator spot in my kitchen. I wanted to turn a negative into a positive and called some local cabinet makers and chanced upon Tim's Cabinets. I discovered that they were very busy because in demand companies usually are. I talked with Tony and gave him an outline of what I wanted to do, and to my pleasant surprise he returned my call after the weekend. I visited their shop and there were several people working with great purpose. We agreed upon a design that would produce the best result in a cost effective way. Tony was terrific to work with and came up with a design that was terrific. Main thing was to create a cabinet 4' wide with right and left side , 4 drawers with high quality full extension ball bearing drawer slides that would create 8 mini drawer sections. I originally was going to order something from Home Depot, ( bad choice for me, horrible in fact. It wound up costing me twice as much to get something that was absolutely perfect for my needs. Maple front trim to match my existing cabinets was perfect. Tony absolutely nailed it, and I was pleased beyond my wildest expectation. Everything was totally square and plumb and If it had cost me 5 times as much it would have been a bargain. I am writing this to emphasize the point that Tony listened, was creative in coming up with a solution, offered suggestions that only a master cabinet maker would have seen. The build was far better than I could have done because they are professionals in every sense of the word. I could have built something great, but simply not this good. I was told that the time frame was longer than I had hoped for but they came in after just 4 days. I am just trying to explain that they are really good, fair, cost effective and in the end, I am hoping to find something else for them to make for me. I guess I will have to send them a picture to post, but they probably have many,, Most people write reviews when they are angry and I couldn't have written something like "good job " "love it " " I'm very happy " to describe what they did, because that wouldn't have told you anything, I'm sure, hearing something with more detail would be more valuable. I had to spell it out, so that you would know what to expect and when I am happy and find somebody competent, it's a...
Read moreThis is a pre-review based on the first impression and collaboration with Tony of Tim's Cabinets regarding the fabrication and acquisition of a complete set of cabinets for a new house. To start with Tony is a professional, guiding the customer through the maze of options and details that are hidden in the decision making process. He is knowledgeable and low key when he represents the services, products, and quality of the workmanship.
As a small business owner contracts, deposits/down payments, and initial outlay for materials and labor are a reality of staying in business. So forget asking the bank to "front" your funds to get the process started. You might find your contractor will fund the initial expenditure or you might not. So be ready to pony up the deposit and have faith the cabinet manufacturer will do just what he stated he will do.
Tony gives you the sincere impression that he has your best interest at heart while assuring he is aware of the commitment and requirements of the project. At this juncture I have absolutely every reason to believe Tony will produce a product we will both be proud of. While we think of this project in terms of one step in fulfilling a dream Tony must see the project as another opportunity to display the quality of his...
Read moreWhen I first contacted Tony he was great! He was funny and quick to come over and take estimates. We decided to go in another direction because a cabinet was not what we originally wanted. After we couldn't find what we wanted I called and texted Tony that we wanted him to do the work. I even visited the ship and left a message and a paint sample of what we wanted to let him know I was serious. He ignored all my attempts to contact him. I found it unprofessional as he could of just said he preferred not to...
