My fiance and I stayed at "a bear moment" and booked through VRBO. Jen (the contact person for the management company) was absolutely wonderful, great with communication, and provided extra details/helpful info. Overall, the cabin was cute and we enjoyed our stay â for the nightly price, we were happy with it for a weekend stay.
Some things that may help others when deciding to book their stay⌠Privacy/neighbors: I wasnât sure what to expect after reading some of the reviews. We thought the privacy was fine and didnât feel like we heard our neighbors excessively when outside on the back porch. It is not as out in the open as some reviews made it seem but can still be seen some. When we would walk around the neighborhood during the day, we didnât feel like you could see onto the porch great, but particularly at night if porch lights on, you can see more clearly from the main road the cabin is on and the road behind the cabin. Side note: The listing says screened-in porch, but it is not screened-in.
Location: we were very pleased and felt like pretty much everything we did was within an easy 15-20-minute drive. It was definitely worth a little bit âlongerâ of a drive to stay in the cabin and be more secluded / surrounded by nature. The drive was gorgeous!
Cleanliness: pro: I am very allergic to most dogs and was afraid it may have smelt like pets had been there, but it did not at all! Con: At first look, it appeared clean, but a few areas could use some work. 1) There were some dirty dishes in the cabinet, but since having the dishes washed or the dishwasher run with dishes put up before leaving is part of the checkout procedure, Iâm guessing a prior guest was just in a hurry and accidentally overlooked it. Just something to keep in mind if planning on using, look at the dishware first before using. 2) We moved the couch a bit back, and there was a very large amount of dust and that area had not seen a vacuum/cleaning in quite some time. The windowsills and fans could also use a good dusting. 3) The bedroom jacuzzi did not appear to be cleaned as there were remnants of a dirty water line so I didnât use it like I originally planned to. These were all relatively minor things that we could fix or opt out of, so I did not address them with Jen during our stay, BUT I have no doubt she would have helped resolve them promptly if I had discussed it with her. (From prior reviews mentioning issues, those appeared to be addressed once brought to their attention !)
Storage â there is no bedroom dresser or place to unpack, just a few hangers. As someone who loves to unpack and organize when I stay somewhere, this was an adjustment! In the kitchen, the drawers are a bit older and can be finicking to pull out and close.
Bathrooms - No towel hooks in the bathroom to place your towel while showering. No outlets in the bedroom half-bath
Smart tv - this one is our fault for assuming, but when we saw smart TV listed, we figured we would be able to login to one of the streaming apps (Netflix/hulu/hbo/etc) for a cozy night in. However, that wasnât an option, but there were satellite/cable channels available to find something to watch.
Hot tub â they are awesome and empty was the water between guests as part of the cleaning process, but that can mean hot tub isnât at temp. Iâd check the temp early and make sure it is set to heat up. We planned on using it the first night, but didnât check the temp initially and it was only 81 so we had to wait to use it.
All in all, a bear moment was a nice little cabin for a weekend getaway with a great host. We appreciated the little extras (welcome snacks, tide pods, dishwasher pods, etc) left for us and the helpful resources jen sends via email. While some things could use some work, we had a comfy bed and a safe place to rest at night. It was perfect for our little...
Read moreGreat cabin Heater and air works great, WiFi works great Hot tub works well, Clean cabin No view other than trees.. just FYI not a bad thing..
Few IMPORTANT things to consider before booking
Only one shower foe the whole cabin which is in the main bedroom..and the water pressure is really really high... it will hurt you and you can't adjust it. I tweeked it with keeping the stopper halfway so more water goes through the speket. upstairs window doesn't have curtains and people can see inside from other higher cabins In the kitchen there is No cutting board , just few mugs and no wine or Scotch (drinks) glasses Refrigerator water dispenser doesn't work Bath gel and shampoo and conditioner are really cheap and will leave you dry.. you may want to bring your own.. Main bedroom: Right behind the bed there is a BIG vent and the air (heat or a/c) will constantly turn on and off making a sound and it will wake up even a sound sleeper... One can hear evey little movement from upstairs bedroom in the downstairs bedroom so if you have kids in the upstairs bunk beds..good luck since there are games also upstairs. TV in the main bedroom doesn't work Mattress on top bunk is off center Upstairs bedroom: Two big vents on each side of the lower bunk bed. Both make noise during the night and produce lots of heat or a/c. Recommend closing for good...
Read moreMy boyfriend and i had an amazing experience at blue mist cabins! We stayed in Rooster Socks Cabin with the most adorable sing hanging out front. As first time cabin renters, we truly didnât know what to expect. Not only was the place immaculate, but the extra step to tend to small details made it all the better and secured us into becoming more frequent renters. The hosts were extremely helpful, and handled any issues or questions with grace and speed. Very loving and inviting as soon as you walk in the door. Cleanliness makes all the difference. That being said, Iâm not one to typically get into hot tubs, but knowing this company takes the time to clean the hot tubs between guests really shows how above and beyond they go. They lay out everything youâd need and more, including snacks, a crockpot and awesome stickers to take home as a reminder of the joy, relaxation and fun memories youâll experience here. Definitely a must book cabin if youâre ever...
