I was on vacation this week with my 3 dogs. Not even 24 hours after we got to Gatlinburg, my oldest dog Tiny had an issue. Her poor little heart just couldn’t do it anymore. Her heart was extremely enlarged. She was having episodes of collapsing. I called 5 vets and not one would take her. The last place i tried was Sevier County Animal Clinic. They just so happened to have a cancellation. It was meant for me to come here. But unfortunately my Tiny girl didn’t make it. We knew she had kidney issues but we didnt expect this considering she had been fine. Just not eating much the last few weeks. I can’t thank the people that work here for what they did. They explained everything, was patient, worked VERY fast to keep her comfortable and never showed any unprofessional behavior. They were able to get my girl cremated before we came back home, which was a huge plus. I hope I never have to come back, but I’m glad to know there’s a vet I can trust when we come on vacation next time. I highly recommend this place.

If I could leave no stars I would. I recently took my dog here. She was in seemingly decent health, but she was coughing a bit, causing a little concern. I was informed she had an enlarged heart and a thyroid problem, but that it wasn’t a “big issue.” She was given 3 different medications to deal with those issues, and by week 2 or 3 of taking the medication, my pup’s health went down hard and fast. I took her back, and they let me know she was now in kidney failure, which could result in her death fairly quickly. I’ve spent nearly $1,500 here in the past month, and my dog is still in terrible health. She can barely eat or walk, let alone near any sense of normalcy for her before our first vet visit. She is now on antibiotics, but she required a few visits solely for bloodwork to monitor her levels.

Her most recent visit was last night. We were supposed to find out if she is actually getting any better, but since she was taken to the vet in the evening, I was told that the vet would call me in the morning with the results and plans going forward. By 11am, I heard nothing, so I called. I was told the doctor was busy, and she would call me around noon time. By 5pm, still no word. My husband calls to get an update, where he was told he’d have to wait on hold for an hour or get a call back. At 6pm, he calls back and he is informed that the vet had already left for the day, showing no intention of calling us that day. I understand places get busy, but if you run a place like this, either take fewer patients or do what needs to be done to ensure your patients, both human and animal, are a priority. I felt at this time, we were getting the runaround, and I lost faith that this clinic was actually giving the time and care my dog needed at this critical time. I made the decision to find a new vet. I called right after my husband hung up to inquire about getting my dog’s records, so that I can take her somewhere else. All I needed to know was if I had to come in person to pick them up or if they could fax them to a new vet. When I called to inquire about this, I did inform the tech who answered that I thought that was unprofessional; I had been sitting worried all day waiting on an assured call that never came. I was told, “the vet was busy today.” To me, this is not, and will never be, a valid “excuse.” This wasn’t a simple test that had no impact; this test was going to let me know (in my mind) if my dog was going to live or not. I told the tech on the phone, “I work and understand busy too, but I’ve been waiting all day for a 3-minute phone call. That’s not ok.” She tried to talk over me, clearly agitated at her career choices and having to be there talking to me. I told her I just needed to know about the records. I was then told I was more than welcome to take my dog somewhere else. I let her know I wasn’t asking permission to seek care for my dog, just that I needed the records, so my next vet can know what’s been done already. At this time, the vet tech decided the best action would be to hang up on me, never answering my question. I called immediately back. A lady answered, and I said I wasn’t sure if she was who just hung up on me, but that I needed to know how to get my dog’s records. She let me know that it was NOT her I just spoke with, so I asked her for the lady’s name. I was told, “I don’t really see the point of that.” I let her know I wanted to make a complaint about the previous lady’s interaction with a customer, and was then told, “Ok, I’m not going to give that to you, so…” In all fairness, she did answer my question, but it seemed weird she wouldn’t give her...

Whatever you do,DO NOT take your pets there ! There is a fair chance you'll wind up with a DEAD PET, & nothing else but a pile of excuses about how "It's not our fault" etc, & a large bill. Our cat died a horrible death after an enema & blood test. My wife picked up our cat about 8:30pm & was told he was resting comfortably,& everything had gone just fine, so unfortunately, she didn't pull the cat OUT of the carry case to see him. 15 min later she got home, shegot the cat out and started screaming. Our cat was absolutely as limp as a wet rag & gasping for breath with it's little mouth strained wide open. Yellowish discharge was coming out from it's mouth & watery poop was coming out from behind. We immediately called back to talk to the doctor (dr Jenny Darden) . She proceeded to backpeddled like a politician, refused to wait 15 min for us to get back there for help, as they were closing. Well, I guess we wouldn't want to put them out or anything, you know. Then she said we should go to an emergency service in Alcoa or Knoxville. Again, passing the buck like a damned politician. Now, after she'd made the excuse that "the cat was in shock from the treatment, she's telling us to pack up the cat & drive an hour to someplace I have never been to, don't know where it is, & furthermore probably can't afford it after paying a total of approx $600 for 2 visits. Emergancy animal clinics are generally cash only or large limit credit card. So, doc Jenny wished us goodluck & hung up. So, we tried literally all night to save him, or at least comfort him, but he died after 11 hours of choking for air, while doc Jenny was at home relaxing after a long day of quackery. I can't imagine what they did to my kitty, but they hurt him badly while he was there. I don't think it's common for cats to die after an enema & blood test, especially when they had been IMPROVING during the previous week. Improving enough to run around outside & jump up on our bed. My guess is they were having a little trouble with the kitty wriggling around & someone there probably pinned him down Hard so he couldn't move, & crushed his chest &lungs. Please, if you love your pets like I do, go somewhere else. Anywhere else. This clinic is a lousy place, & if you search google, you'll find plenty of other examples like mine. Of poor treatment, overcharging, pet deaths, etc.

Also, the owner later called my wife about it, made a pile of excuses & denials in an unfriendly manner. She told him to call me, when I heard nothing, I left a message for him to call me, but apparently he's only into berating women, not man enough to mess with...

If there was an option for zero I would definitely give it. A few years ago I brought my Yorkie here for an injury to his spine. He was in such pain! They couldn't give an exact answer for the problem and suggested pain meds...which did absolutely nothing to alleviate his pain all night so I brought him back first thing the next morning to have him euthanized to end his suffering. He was 10 and in my opinion too old for surgery. So last week, my English Mastiff had eaten in 24 hours, had drank very little and was lethargic all day. I had called his regular vet and they gave me a number to a mobile vet. Couldn't get ahold of him so I decided to take him to Sevier County Animal Clinic (called ahead and told them his issues). We arrived, got him out they out him on oxygen, took x-rays and his blood. End result...no concrete answer...take him to ER Dr that can put him on fluids overnight. He may be having an allergic reaction to his antibiotics, he was also dehydrated (he ALWAYS had a bowl of fresh water). The Vet.. Jenny or Jennings is the one who told me that! After several minutes, I pay my bill and wait for him to bring him out....they have to CARRY him because he can't walk on his own now. The Vet techs were great I could see the concern on their faces. They get him in and his breathing is very labored, his eyes were rolling back and I said "IS HE EVEN GOING TO MAKE IT TO THE SECOND VET??!!" NO ANSWER FROM ANYONE! The same Vet comes out and gives him two shots (vitamin K and a steroid shot) Which I wasnt charged for...thanks for that. So we left....about ten minutes down the road he had passed. It's been almost two weeks and I called the Vet today to say this...you should have known he wasn't stable enough to transport, you should have allowed us to stay and let me spend his last moments there instead of driving down the road. I didn't cuss you or threaten you for you to say " I don't have to take this abuse" Ummmmm....I don't have a college degree but I didnt even verbally abuse you! You just didn't like being criticized about your decision about my dog!! You can take your sympathy for the loss of my dog (that was only given because I called to talk to you) and shove it in your worthless veterinary degree! I do want to extend my sincere thanks to the staff/vet techs that were...
