Let me tell you about a business that defines the American Spirit... Island Hoppers Bike Shop! Founded by a father and son duo, (Steve and Cartier), Together they offer an unmatched brand of service. As avid riders themselves, both offer a knowledge derived from experience and a passion for their craft. Each is uniquely gifted in their field of expertise, forged by the span of generational trends that make them fully equipped to offer the total, “one stop” shopping satisfaction for all... whether you were looking to dust off the old Schwinn 10 speed, Or if you are in the market to find the perfect bike to take up some weekend recreational riding, or if you are that diehard enthusiast looking to upgrade to the latest and most advanced riding options, then Hopp over to Island Hoppers... You can even bring the grandparents… they have something for them as well!!!
Personally, I have been dealing with Island Hoppers almost since the inception of their bike shop concept over 12 yrs ago and have never been disappointed in the service or results... as a “once upon a time, Die Hard BMX racing and freestyle enthusiast in the 80’s & 90’s”, I have, over the years, succumb to the inevitable “side effects” of life that tend to get in the way of the vast majority of people as we grow... Career, Marriage, Children!!! (All of which have been very welcome and exciting with no regrets...) However, once I became a parent, I found myself looking for ways to keep active in a way that I can share with my kids. As my children grew, I found myself bragging more and more about all the magnificent things I used to do in my youth, especially on bikes, (quarter and half pipe glory, flatland stunts and tricks, dirt tracks, bunny hopping tennis court nets... “grunt, grunt, grunt” (“tool man” style)!!! Oh those were the best days!!! No internet or smartphones, no means of Maintaining a complete social life without ever leaving the house! Just good old fashioned “Snail Mail” (with stamps- how many kids even know what those are today) and land line phones with the conversation often ending with “I’ll be right over”!! Needless to say, it was an easy “HOP” to pick up where I left off years ago, (With the Passion for riding … Not so much the agility and skills... Although I am very proud to say I can still bust out a “catwalk”,(wheely) for pretty much as long as I want Which still gets a whole lot of “Ooohs” and “Ahhhs” from the neighborhood kids!!
Even just recently, the owners, Steve and Cartier melted my heart after they made a mans day when he brought his daughter and her bike in for some replacement parts very close to closing time... It was obvious he was eager to take his daughter out for some quality “father/daughter “ bike time, and they knew the task he was about to take on, what is easily beyond the father’s abilities with the type of bike his daughter had. In any other typical instance… They would have gladly had him leave the bike, scheduled him in and performed the service and called him in a few days when it was done... (they are Very Good, and therefore, very busy in peak season)... However, sensing the fathers urgency with his little girl, they actually stuck around beyond their business hours to make the repairs and adjustments to get them on their way to some quality time riding... Nearly Brought a tear to the fathers eyes!! By the way… That last story was one that is extra special to me because I was the father that was so eagerly trying to get my daughters bicycle adjusted to accommodate Her rapid growth! **At this point in my review, I probably had another 10 paragraphs of praise for these men and this business, however it well over exceeded my character limit so I just had to forward to my conclusion… Maybe on their Facebook page I can get my entire review on there… —IN CONCLUSION: These men of Island Hoppers, are genuine assets to the community and deserve our business and loyalty for years of satisfied “Jobs Well Done”! Good Job Island Hoppers! I am a customer for life! Keep up the Great...
Read moreIslander Hoppers Bicycle Products at 570 Meadow Summit Dr Suite 7 in Ocean isle NC is an awesome place. Sales, service parts, you name, they do it. Located off of Rt #904 between Rt #17 and Rt #179. Look for their sign on 904. IHBP sells a brand of Bikes called Sun Bikes. They are perfect for your any and all beach experience. Easy to maintain and durable looking as well. I took an older bike in to get some work done. In two days I got it back and it's fine. My bike will need a seat and they have them to sell. However, IHBP recommended that I try eBay. That one action tells you that they look out for you and your dollar. I thought I was going to need tires and tubes. But, they advised the tires were still in good shape so they just replaced the tubes. They are a local business in the lower end of Brunswick county. Not far from Sunset Beach or Holden Beach. Stop by and see them and support a local business. So I'm back again to get a service on my bike. The staff's attention to detail and fixing things right is amazing. What I enjoy is the fact they will text you a photo of the repair that you need or what additional repairs are needed. I will sum this comment up with this. They fixed my bike so well the first time a couple of years ago that I truly enjoyed bike riding again. Thanks guys for another...
Read moreFantastic service is what you should expect from small local businesses, and that’s exactly what you’ll get when you visit here. I looked them up on google and noticed that in addition to the bike rentals, they also do repairs. The place where we were staying had free bikes to ride, but the absentee owner must not have realized one of the bikes had a bad tube, so I was looking for a repair shop and found island hoppers. After taking the bike in, I decided to go ahead and rent a bike anyway, just so we wouldn’t have to wait, and told them to do the repair also. They set that up for me, and had the repair done just after lunch that same day, so we were able to get some riding in one day, and have the other bike back for the next days ride. In addition to the service, the people that helped us were super nice all the way. Even though there were bike rental places that were literally right across the street from us, I don’t regret driving the extra miles to visit island hoppers. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back when we are in the area again. Thanks to all the good folks at island hoppers that helped make our stay a...
