8/15/25 - Edit to my review- I was contacted by the owner, Jonathan, after posting this review. He contacted me a few times because I ignored the first couple messages from him. That in itself shows his level of concern. I have to say that he is genuine in his quest to make sure his customers are treated well. He wanted to make things right and gain our trust back. He was adamant in doing so. I feel much better knowing that there are people who truly care about work ethic and customer satisfaction. Building a business from the ground up and maintaining the integrity over the years is challenging, but I do believe he's on the right path!
My car broke down on 211. We had AAA tow it to L&A North because we've dealt with them numerous times and thought they were honest and trustworthy. I do believe the mechanics offer a good service but we were WAY over billed. My toyota Camry needed an alternator, belt & battery, they said it would cost $1,618.00! I don't know enough about repair costs and agreed to it and asked them to inspect it as well. When I talked with one of my sons from out of town, he was livid and said that was highway robbery. He called them for a detailed breakdown. The woman reduced the bill by $200.00 which my son said was still too high, but at least a little better. When I went to pick it up, she said he fussed at her so much that she would see what else she could do to reduce the cost. I paid $1,200. In the mean time my husband's truck was broken down in our driveway and we had a great mobile mechanic come look at it. He was shocked by L&A's quote on my car and said they quoted about $900.00 too much. Lesson learned, we will not be going back to L&A Auto because we can never trust them again. This Tire and Auto location is conveniently situated near my residence, easily accessible from Hwy 211 and 17 in Brunswick County. Upon entering the waiting area, I was warmly greeted by Terry. Despite arriving prior to my scheduled appointment, my vehicle was promptly attended to and moved into the bay for inspection and oil change within minutes. The waiting area was well-appointed, and the staff demonstrated a clear focus on efficiently servicing each vehicle, completing tasks in a timely manner. Read moreHave used L&A North for several "object in tire" patches over the past few years. Used them for a state inspection several times (and I will point out, they do not charge the state allowed maximum, but just what it costs them to do, which is nice). This year, for an inspection, they stated the check the alignment on every vehicle they do a state inspection on, which I thought was interesting at first.
They did check the alignment on my vehicle and it did show mine was out on one wheel only. I originally declined (with zero pressure when I declined, and gave the printout as reference to take with me) as I was under a time crunch but then changed my mind and ultimately decided to get it done here, since it was already up on the rack and added maybe five extra minutes to fix.
Everyone who was there getting inspections also had alignment issues, and everyone got them fixed. Sure, it's an upsell, but, an easy one for them where they can show you actually what is wrong and the impact it's having. I was having some odd tire wear, and this certainly will extend the life of my tires now so, I'd rather spend a little more for an alignment than a lot more for all new tires sooner than necessary.
