We ended up in this area with two other couples and only a couple of us played golf so I ended up here three straight days. Very attractive golf course in I felt good condition. From the back tees it's about 6,400 yards. I played it at about 6100 which with damp fairways and fast greens early in the morning was enough of a challenge. There is a huge variance in hole length. There were three par fives out of the first five holes to open the back which is where we started each day. There are also a number of very short par fours with the rest being somewhere in between. The greens are challenges in and of themselves with a lot of break especially to those holes heading up hills. All of the fairways are treelined with both Pine and hardwoods well spread out. Plenty of room between fairways so you shouldn't be in any other fairway. You really have to pay attention as every green slants toward the marsh and you will always underestimate how much break there is. Very reasonably priced and I would even say underpriced at $30 with cart...
Read moreI live on a golf course, a CC, but because I like variety, I do a lot of travel golf, sometimes near by sometimes not. During peak season, I golf everyday, sometimes twice a day. I get around and have seen my fair share of golf courses.
I was scheduled to play 18 at Oceana but my travel plans changed and I only was able to play the back 9, which I absolutely regret. What a nice course; the fairways and greens were some of the best I've ever seen, and I've been golfing for more than 50 years. #14 fairway was so perfectly manicured it could pass for astro turf. The guy I met at the pro shop was super nice and the price for the round was on the lower side of completely fair. I live in Grand Rapids more than an hour away, but would (and will) make the drive to play it again. Great course and one I...
Read moreBeautifully manicured and extremely lush course with lots of thoughtful touches around the holes. I was here on vacation from Scotland and despite the fact that I will only be visiting Michigan perhaps a few weeks per year I took advantage of the 10 round punch card that is valid here and also Benona Shires as not only are they excellent courses but the price is outstanding value. Beware though of the fast greens and if you are a mid handicapper like me you may just rack up a few high scores given the difficulty of the greens. Only slight criticism I would have is that I found the sand in the bunkers a bit course and one was a bit solid underneath. There is a well stocked shop selling club orientated merchandise as well as...
