I am very particular about my beloved Saab 9-3 Turbo X, and spent ages asking around about different tunes and tuning companies before approaching Brian at Vermont Tuning via email. He always replied promptly, and never tried to 'sell' me on his product. After a lot of thinking, I went ahead with the purchase. As I live in Australia, shipping was a consideration, and Brian was able to advise on what the best value for money vs speed of delivery option was. He also helped by invoicing for $200 US vs the retail price of $600, as we have to pay 10% sales tax on overseas purchases. The tuner took only a week to arrive, and was installed easily in a couple of minutes using the very easy instructions. I took my Saab for a short drive, gingerly pressing the gas pedal and listening for misfires etc. Once the engine was properly warmed up, I took a deep breath and floored it on a quiet stretch of country road. Oh my word. A total transformation. No spool-up lag, no hesitation, the car just sank its claws into the (wet) road and launched itself at the horizon with stunning ferocity. I have had Maptun and Abbott Racing tunes on Saabs in the past, and I can honestly say Vtuner is streets ahead of anything. If you have a Saab, and are considering using Vermont Tuning, do...
Read moreVT, in other words, Brian, is a genius when it comes to this tuning thing. He made my 2008 Saab 9-3 Aero what it should have been from the factory, even with the humble stage 0. Don't be fooled, it puts the power down and is deceptively smooth, basically factory like. No boost spikes or other less than mature tuning methods. You can tell he puts thought into his final product and will not offer a substandard experience. His support is also top notch. Easily recommended. Hope he stays around to support all my future Saab purchases and upgrades. Mind you, never tune a less than perfectly maintained car. It serves no purpose. Always be sure to have everything up to snub and only use factory like parts on these Saabs, none of this cheap aftermarket coils, etc. Listen to his advice, then...
Read moreNot the greatest tuning experience I’ve been through by far. The tune was decent. They did well with that. Where the issue lies is when I was quoted very high on retunes for simple changes (eg $600 for waste gate actuator adjust) which is a single variable adjustment, didn’t change DTC limits so stuck in limp mode when making power over time. and refused to unlock AutoCal so it could be moved to a different tuner, making it an expensive e-waste paperweight. Had to UART the AutoCal just to get rid of his key and even now it’s not fully functional as it’s...
