The ride and the views are absolutely stunning, your staff was so nice. Like the excitement is real! We could clearly see what we were getting into. We took the time and read the contract as well. Our cart did derail, Which was fine, from what I understand from the tour guide this happens sometimes, once again no biggie, it was all exciting but the tire like actually broke, and all of a sudden it seemed to be our fault. If their was a weight issue no one said anything, no one voiced concerns. No refund was offered. Nothing. I don’t know the guys name, I believe he was the owner. He had to come pick us up in the middle of the route and just seemed so annoyed. He wasn’t nice at all towards the end. His wife seemed so embarrassed by his actions, which I would be too. I’m just super super super disappointed in the outcome. We had starting planning a weekend trip with 25 of our friends to reserve seats for a future date and everything but we will not be coming back since it seemed to be just our fault for faulty tire. I have pictures of the one tire that broke that seemed to have been worked on times before, it didn’t look like the rest. I’m not sure how you handle maintenance of these but it seemed poor. And once again if weight was an issue why the owner not hold up to his own standards of safety?or if weight is in the “contract” why would you not reinforce your own contracts? That’s not rude, that is handling your business. I would rather know then not know since it literally involves our safety. We knew what we were getting into. But how everything was handled ruined it all. I will be reviewing every platform I can find in regards, I just believe that it was handled wrong on this outcome. I thought ok I prolly won’t get a refund but maybe he will let us come up another day and try this again. He said something about it, but never took our info or gave us info to come back or days or nothing. You could tell this guy was annoyed. Shooed us off and went back to his little unhappy hole. I wish this was handled differently. Y’all made us feel embarrassed and everything else. And We don’t even exceed the weight limit at all. So thanks for that part.
I only gave two stars because obviously this is cool thing to do, and the views. Maybe it would be different if the guy was nice. I’m not sure just super disappointed on...
Read moreHave been wanting to try this for a few years, but always forgot to buy tickets ahead of time and this is a popular event. We went on a Saturday at 12, and it was completely a full ride. Easy to find, plenty of easy access parking and two portapottys and trash cans. The event guides Josh, and Trevor were both funny, friendly and helpful the entire trip. Make sure to give yourself extra time to check in and have your signed waivers ready to go. The ride itself was fun, and the first half was very easy/downhill. The way back is quite a bit harder, but they do follow everyone in a motorized cart that can push the line along. It was about 13 miles roundtrip. Make sure to bring water bottles, sunscreen and bug spray. In the summer there were plenty of bees, but the staff had benadryl and some topical bee sting solution available for free if anyone got stung. The seats are not very comfortable, and you slide down quite a bit. Wish there were handles because it's a long ride of not having anything to hold onto lol. Ladies, wear long shorts or leggings to help with the seat discomfort and also protect you from bees. Definitely would recommend...
Read moreOur family of 6 adults and one 9-month-old enjoyed our time at Vance Creek Railriders. We arrived and checked in. We had our waivers signed and printed but they also have waivers available in the check-in office if you didn't print them. They did an introduction and gave us an idea of what to expect. The trip takes about 2 hours and is approximately 13 miles. If you are faster at pedaling they encourage you to sit in the back on the way down so when they turn the rail carts around you are in the front going uphill. Before departing, they adjust your seats. They also made sure the car seat for the baby was strapped in nice and tight. On the ride itself, on the way down, not much pedaling is needed. We did have constant pedaling on the return trip, you will have to work for it. You see beautiful trees and rivers. I would suggest a hat, sunscreen, and water. We did the 12-2 time slot so the sun was right above us. Some of the railway is full sun but I would say most is in the shade. Everyone in our party said they had a great time, would recommend to others, and bring people here that...
