A Once-Valued Community Resource in Decline It genuinely saddens me to write this review. I have shopped at this store for years—through my own childhood and while raising my children—and it once stood as a well-run, clean, and respectful resource for families trying to make ends meet. Unfortunately, that no longer seems to be the case. Over time, I’ve witnessed a significant decline in both the quality of items available and the professionalism of the environment. Many of the donated goods now placed on the shelves are stained, torn, or carry unpleasant odors—items that previously would have been responsibly redirected to charitable organizations like the Salvation Army. It feels as though the original mission of providing dignity and value to all shoppers, especially lower and middle-income families, has been lost. I’ve also observed what appear to be questionable practices by staff and volunteers. It is disheartening to see items being set aside or bagged up and taken out the back door—donations meant to serve the public good, not personal gain. The number of employees or volunteers present at any given time seems excessive, yet the store often feels disorganized and chaotic. On my last visit, the environment was so hot it was nearly impossible to shop comfortably, and I was overwhelmed by the strong smell of marijuana. I later saw individuals I believe were staff smoking outside near the front register, which explained the odor drifting inside, which could not be mistaken, it was marijuana. Even for medical use, it should be used out of the area where customers shop. And sharing it as a group… highly doubt it was for medical use. I was shocked and disappointed by the lack of professionalism. Even more concerning, I witnessed different pricing being applied to customers in line ahead of me. While one person left with a large amount of merchandise for under $20, I was charged nearly twice as much for far fewer items. It raised serious concerns about fairness and consistency in their pricing practices. If you look like you can afford it-you’re paying more. To makeup for those discounts they need to give. It’s difficult to express how disheartening it is to see a place that once served the community with dignity now feel so ran down. Sadly, I will no longer be donating or shopping here. I hope leadership takes these concerns seriously and works to restore the integrity, cleanliness, and sense of mission that once made this shop a cornerstone of our community. Find better management, with better standards, because the poor and underprivileged deserve better. These practices will run this shop into the ground, and it will...
Read moreWe have been customers for a couple of years and donate regularly. Well they have these new people in there now and it ain't thrifty anymore. We bought a coat for 5.00. But after that we bought a couple statutes and were changed 7.00 each. They used to be about 3.00 and 3 desert plates for our dogs food. And they were 1.00 each. Used to be $.25 to .50 each. We question why everything was so much higher and was told they look them up on the internet for pricing. And said it would help more people. What about the ones who shop there because they can't afford to shop elsewhere. She didn't answer. Well our donations and purchases will be taken elsewhere so those people can afford nice things too without...
Read moreI absolutely LOVE Outreach! It's a little slice of heaven located off the beaten path. ☺ The prices are reasonable, the staff are incredibly polite and helpful, and the money raised actually helps those in need... If you come in and genuinely need a jacket, baby clothes, etc., and cannot afford to buy it, they will give you what you need, no questions asked! The same cannot be said about The Goodwill, a for profit company that refuses to give away anything, regardless of your needs and...
