I attended AC during the 1967 and 1968 academic year and played football for the 'Roos. Great schedule and a winning season. Overall, a very good but not an outstanding experience. Actually, academically, I have nothing but high praise for AC. The quality of the academic staff is good and the class size even as a freshman (freshperson?) was almost one-on-one. Ironically, what caused me to leave AC was an ethical lapse by one of the assistance coaches. After playing in almost every AC football game during my freshman year and qualifying for enough quarters to receive a letter jacket, one of your assistance coaches advised me that I would not be receiving a letter jacket because my cleats had not been returned "sufficiently clean". He refused my offer to try to meet his standard of "sufficiently clean." I really felt betrayed by this moron after devoting an entire season of sweat and blood for AC without even receiving one dime for an athletic stipend or any other recognition or compensation. To make a long story short, I immediately transferred to UT-Austin, graduated with a B.S. degree and then received my M.S. at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. I have completed a 40+ year career with Exxon Mobil and continue to contribute as a Consultant.

Read moreAustin College has never been anything, but a positive experience for me. As a sophomore, I’ve fallen in love with the academic opportunities on this campus. The class work may be challenging, but AC never leaves you without a support system. With small classroom settings, professors are available to help with lessons or assignments all throughout class. Office hours are always available for outside help and there are even of free tutoring opportunities.
As far as extra curricular activities, there are tons of them! Between Greek Life, personal expression clubs, language clubs and service groups… no interest goes unmet. If Greek life or clubs aren’t your thing, CAB (Campus Activity Board) makes sure there are events almost every night for students to take a break and relax with.
Campus life is great, but to help prepare us for graduate life as well, Career Services strives to get every student career-ready. They offer Career-Readiness Checks, mock interviews, internship opportunities, resume critiques and more to ensure that every student feels prepared for the real world after graduating.
Opportunities are endless here. I’m confident that by the time I leave Austin College, I will be better...
Read moreI graduated from Austin College in 2009 and contrary to what Preston has stated, I could not disagree more. You make college the college experience what it is. The professors here are excellent and are more than willing to go the extra mile to help you succeed, all you have to do is ask. Students here have the opportunity to study abroad for a semester or take a Jan term abroad (a 3 week mini-mester in January) to places like Australia, Brazil, Italy, Bali, South Africa, Prague, etc. Students at other colleges never get this type of opportunity but AC encourages it!!! I highly recommend AC to all of my current 10th-12th grade students when they ask me about college choices. The food in the cafeteria might not be the best, but its definitely not inedible. But if you don't like the cafeteria food there is always the Pouch Club as an alternative!!! With all the opportunities given to you at AC (both during and after you graduate), there is no reason not to love...
