Bison Golf Club — Local services in Show Low

Had a 10:45 teetime today. Called yesterday to inquire about rental clubs. Lee told us they had plenty of rental clubs. Arrived at 10AM and checked in. When we went to pick up the rental clubs, the set provided to my husband had a broken driver and was told they don't have a replacement. The ladies a clubs proved we're a mix of men's and ladies clubs that included two 9 irons two 5 woods with dents in both faces, a 3 wood, a couple of men's wedges, and a 7 and 8 irons and a putter. The clubs were covered in mud and dirt. When asked if they could be cleaned, was told there is a club washer at the practice range but it only had about an inch of water in it. Went back to the pro shop and complained and they provided a set of premium clubs for my husband but hadn't other ladies clubs. Decided to try to play with the odd set of ladies clubs but chose to quit after 10 holes because the clubs were so old and that it wasn't fun. Went back into the clubhouse to request a refund on my club rental of $35. And was told no refunds. Will never return and buyer beware. The course is in terrible condition. Greens are painted, tee boxes mostly dirt and fairways very thin there isn't rough to speak of, only rocks and pebbles. We are good golfers,hubby is an 11...

First let me say the clubhouse and Cary staff were great.

That being said. We had a tee time set, and when we showed up. We were told or tee time was 45 minutes later. No explanation. The practice facility it like something you would expect from a low end community course. The condition of the course was horrid. Now I know the course is going to blame this on monsoon rain but we played other courses in the area and no standing water. The drainage is junk, there was standing water all over the course and you footing and driving was like playing in a swamp. The layout is not great. You are diving; sometimes on cart paths, sometimes on what looks like goat trails. The signage of where the next hole is can be non exist and it seems like you need a compass and a map to navigate the course and find your way. There are no in course rest rooms, except the turn. There is no one in a cart selling drinks and snacks. The times I saw members of the grounds crew they were driving around acting like chimps.

I would not suggest this course, and will not play it again....

This is from the Bar and Grill. The wait staff was kind but a tad unprofessional. No one greeted us as we came in and the waitress sounding flustered warned us not to sit in her section outside. We chose to anyway and so any slow responses were our own fault at that point and she was gracious and casual, joking with us. The atmosphere was great until the sun went down and the outside lights were apparently broken so we finished our meal in darkness. The food was just fine, nothing horrible nothing amazing. The wings were nothing special but they were large and juice enough. My burger tasted good but was overdone (I ordered Medium and I don't like Rare meat so yes it was actually overdone) My party got a Ruben which was flavored good but had no sauce and was therefore dry. And the other got the chicken sandwich which had a fun name I don't remember, but that he said was done just right even with his personal...
