On the 10th Of April I was viciously attacked by a dog I was brought to the ER here (Canyon Vista Medical Center). I was told by the PA that they were going to notify animal control being it’s the state law and they never did. I was told I had a level 4 dog bite, and they cleaned it and sent me home with STRIPS! Asked about a cat scan, ultrasound, rabies shot and wound care. I was told by the PA I did not need any of those things. Thank God I have a mom who is a nurse because when she saw the picture she immediately said you do not put strips on a wound that massive being it will automatically lead to an infection, they should have done an ultrasound, cat scan and given me a rabies shot. I had a fever, infection, and severe pain. I went back the next day, and a different PA asked me where I had these strips put in and I told him here (Cayon Vista Medical Center). The PA told me I had an infection and needed it cleaned out and he would put a huge pad on it so it would heal and then he told me just continue to wash it with any kind of soap and I did not need wound care. But in the paperwork, it said soap or antiseptic skin cleaning soap. Once I got home my mom told me do not wash it with any kind of soap it will get infected, she told me she was getting me Hibiclens. When I told my PCP, she was appalled they did not do a cat scan, ultrasound, give me a rabies shot or provide me with wound care. She immediately set me up with ultrasound, gave me pain meds and I told her my mother who is a nurse manager told me what to do and got me supplies to treat the wound. My PCP refused to send me to Canyon Vista Medical Center and instead sent me to Arizona Surgery Center to have my ultrasound done. I could have had a blood clot, I could have had rabies, they were negligent in reporting the dog bite, they denied me wound care and did not take care of my wound when I was there forcing me to come back 24 hours later. It was total hell, and they were horrible. Maybe it was because I was African American, maybe they were tired or maybe they just didn’t care. If my mom had not been a nurse manager I probably would have died.

I don’t even know where to begin. There are those who do their best and I have nothing to say about them other than they are the reason the place is still open. The rest of the lot seems to think patients are just numbers or a distraction in their to-do list during their shift. Doctors swearing during appointments, talking trash about other staff, nurses and their support team making people wait beyond the hour window for medications, leaving blood on floors, empty wrappers, dirty needles, etc. there’s still a oxy probably laying in the corner of the room I was in
leaving doors wide open but leaving patients naked and walking out the rooms, offering blankets/pillows, but never filling that.. common decency is rare there and that’s sad. They try to get honest people who should be there fired when they get called out on their lack of attention to detail and respect a patients rights
. Had one lady try to force me to take morphine instead of a lesser pain medication. Seriously?! At this point I'm deciding whether to take further action because what I saw while I was there and what happened to me and another patient was outrageous. Giving me Diabetic foods when I’m not diabetic, not allowing me to choose the food items that I wanted, as I was told I could, giving a diabetic patient non-diabetic food (how do I know? Staff came in my room and requested to see my receipt that came with my meal. I simply asked why
). They don’t pay the supporting staff nearly enough, but that’s no excuse to stop following protocol. I hated it so much I pushed to get out of there days before I was supposed to be released and didn’t even bother going back for a follow up procedure. Do better.

DON’T deliver at this hospital if I could I would give it a 0 star. I had a emergency C-section here everything went okay until 1 day after my surgery I was in extremely pain that non of the strong pain medications that could stop the pain. Before I got discharge I told them I’m still in pain that I want to stay . They said the “pain” is normal I got ignored and they discharge me. A week after being at home I was still in pain it was hard to take care of my newborn but my csection was bleeding a little that I notice I was running a 105 fever, chills etc. My mom rushed me to the hospital ER and they said it was “normal” to see the bleeding that they see that a lot here which should be a Red Flag they shouldn’t see that a lot here. They sent me home and the next day I was in the bathroom my csection decided to burst open and the blood poured everywhere in the bathroom . Of course I ran back to the ER and they FINALLY listen to me . Turns out when I had my csection the doctor didn’t STITCH MY INSIDE. So I was bleeding internally for more then a week without knowning it. The doctor told my dad to start saying goodbye to me because they didn’t think I would make it it would be a miracle to. I had a big hematoma and I had sepsis shock. I was a newly mom which now gave me PTSD because of the medical error mistake. If you care about you’re life don’t come here . Graphic but idc this is what they left me.

Carter Imaging at Canyon Vista Medical Center just found a mass I’ve been dealing with for years. Undetected by my doctors. I don’t know what it is, but am seeing my PCP tomorrow. Been having issues and knew something was there since 2019. Thank you for the CT Scan yesterday. I am finally getting the answers I’ve been needing! Carter Imaging staff are caring, professional and compassionate! Just adding an update: Canyon Vista imaging found a liver mass and CT showed benign. Thank you Carter Imaging. Your staff is amazing. I knew something was in there. Even Swan Gastro missed it in 2019. Wasn’t listening to me. Carter images showed it and their Techs found it. 5 years of discomfort and my doctors weren’t listening. Changed doctors, but kept Carter Imaging. Highly recommend them! They really care about their clients and listen. Thank you.

What a relief. It’s benign. No more worries. This Senior loves the staff at Carter Imaging. You answered my prayers. Thank you. I’m a holistic healing minister ordained with Universal Life Church. I know my body. And you listened.

Just adding a thank you to Jordis today. You all are so kind and thorough. See you next year! I know if there’s any problems your staff finds it.

Today I received a 3rd reminder to discuss liver findings with my primary. Thank you so much. My primary refused to review your findings with me so I changed over to Doug Simmons, FNP and he found it to be benign. And we discussed diet to keep under control. I c@not thank you enough. I have had this since 2009 and couldn’t get my physicians to listen. Wasn’t in my head. I am not a hypochondriac. I needed heart surgery for fainting from SVT and I have a liver mass with lesions that is benign. Have severe allergies to pollution especially smoke. Been involved in too many fires living in the woods commuting my entire life.

Carter imaging, you a have amazing techs and doctors. I am so grateful to God for leading me to Sierra Vista and Carter imaging. Highly recommend this imaging staff. They listen to their clients and truly care. We are in good hands with Canyon Vista Medical Center. 2019 my identity was confused with someone else’s when I had my appendectomy, but they made it right now!

They know who I am and have found source of my chronic pain due to this liver mass with lesions. And want to make certain my primary followed up! He has. I’m with CQCH now. He listened when Drs. Serfino and Bansal refused to take me seriously. I don’t know who they were listening to but I had my identity cyber-hacked and notified by AARP since my data was compromised by their network with ransomware they paid for 2 years of identity monitoring giving me time to get it straight. Thanks for seeing me staff at Carter Imaging and not the fake file replace$ by the cyber-hackers targeting seniors through AARP.

Got our pharmacy records as well. Switched my meds. Had to change pharmacies as well. Didn’t have to change imaging centers because they have always seen seen the real me. And genuinely care about their clients. Eight year’s her, I love them all for helping me become healthier!

One cannot know how to handle chronic pain unless the understand where it is...

I was checked in because my nervous system has been malfunctioning for a while now and it's been getting worse with time. The Dr saw me and we went over my history. Some things were productive until I started going over a surgery I had and he kept questioning me about the procedures and conduct of the vein center that worked on my leg. He kept saying "it's odd" over and over expecting me to have an answer for their behavior. I did not and I kindly explained to him that I see a lot of sketchy behaviors from providers often. He grew quiet quickly before asking me if I have been checked for various things. I stated no and I asked him kindly to write these things down so I could go over them with my Dr to try to figure out how to preserve myself going forward. I was told no because they can't diagnose me there before lecturing me about what the ER does and does not do. I wasn't asking for a diagnosis.

I was asking for assistance in creating a short sheet of things to talk about with my DR. Finally he had grown annoyed and asked me to look at the IV bag. He asked me what it was. I said I don't know, I can't see it well. He then lectured me more about keeping my arm straight because it's a hinge. I have aphasia and as a consequence of that I speak more with my hands to help get the point across. I asked him how to stay hydrated with all the vomiting. He said I was fine. To put it in perspective I drink 2 gallons of water a day. I'm up to 5 just to try to survive this as well as taking various electrolytes on the side to sustain myself. That's not normal. I asked him how to keep food inside of me without vomiting and again he said he doesn't make diagnosis for "complex issues" finally I asked him if the lymph nodes in my abdomen were still swollen and he stated that he doesn't know and that he would check. Finally he stated that he was "cutting me loose" and that I need to "keep on advocating for myself" He never returned and I was discharged without the meds needed to help control the vomiting. The goal has changed from trying to get help staying alive until I can get a DX from a specialist to seeing how long I last in general without proper medical supports in place. My town deserves better. Anyone deserves better.

Update:

They saw the review I guess and decided to call me. The woman that had placed the call was very nice as I described everything that had happened in detail. The woman had asked me if she had my permission to access my records. I said sure. She stated that what happened to me was wrong and said that something will be done about it. I haven’t seen that man around the hospital since. I guess it...

I visited the Emergency room with a sharp pain in my stomach, fever and horrible headache. I told the nurse about my symptoms upon arrival. The doctor ordered some blood work and a CT scan. Those test were performed within 3 hours of me being there. The problem was the results of the tests were kept a secret from me for hours after. I sat on a room that look like a waiting aĂ©rea with other patients and the nurses would refuse to give me my diagnosis. Not to mention one lady wearing a purple scrub came to ask me if I had a job, where I work and what title and how money I made. Very suspicious questions, like I was being put on a box of people that they potentially charge a higher amount for my visit. I have never being asked those kinds of questions as she wrote down and wanted to investigate even more about my financial condition even though I provided my insurance card. I kept asking about my results and no nurse or doctor came to tell me what it was. Finally I was told I needed some other test and that happened 12 hours after I was there. Still no idea what results they already had. Finally I was told all was normal and I could leave with a prescription of anti inflammatory, but I still didn’t know what I had. I asked why is the fever and the pain. She said she didn’t know. Then I walked out with antibiotics instead of anti inflammatory. I was so confused. Not only I didn’t know why I stayed so long and why my medication had changed and why I had so much pain. I read other people had several issues with the billing of this hospital, I called my insurance and made them aware of what happened in case they overbill. This hospital is the Worst experience I ever had. The staff taking test or doing procedures never washed their hands or use sanitizer. Really disgusting. I am hoping they won’t charge me crazy amounts of money as my bill still is a secret 4 days later. I am ready to dispute crazy charges. Not to mention there is no privacy to discuss your medical condition as they seat you to talk in front of everyone that is passing by.

Following up two months later as I expected I received a bill for 10k to my insurance and multiple attempts to overcharge my Copay. I contacted the Better Business Bureau to let them know how terrible this hospital is with their billing procedures and how terrible I feel for the people of Sierra vista that have no choice but to take medical care from this hospital. Do not get out of this hospital without copies of your receipts, I kept Everything and plan to provide...
