We interviewed multiple auctioneers for our large estate auction. Choosing to go with Rogers online format was difficult because our rural community had no experience with an online format and many naysayers said we were making a mistake.. Boy were they ever wrong! Having detailed pictures that allow nationwide property exposure, and local buyers to review in depth your items was a game changer! We did multiple onsite preview sessions that allowed folks to find items online that they were interested in, come to the property to personally view those specific items, and then go home and discuss the purchase decision with their family. All this made folks feel the item was already theirs.. when the auction closing came, they knew what they wanted, had a place picked out where they would use it, and already felt they owned it! All this contributed to a high bidder involvement! All leading to increased satisfaction for both buyer and seller! We also had a stellar experience with all the Rogers staff family! They were polite, professional, and extremely knowledgeable about the items. If we located something that was not exactly how we wanted it, they were quick to respond and either fix it immediately or state their thoughts on why in their experience it would work better another way! Closing an estate that encompasses four generations of our family was one of the hardest things we’ve ever done. Rogers was very sensitive to those emotions and worked with us to ensure we were able to honor those ancestors efforts in the manner and fashion that was remarkable! If you are looking for an auction format to sell a large estate or just everyday items, I encourage you to consider Rogers Auctioneers. You...

Great group of guys and I like the web sites easy to use platform. Most of the auctions they do have good stuff that anyone could find useful. Always found their 15% really high. This pushes most items out of the price range that you can find on CL. That is why I don't buy much from them. Now that they charge tax this makes it even worse. Based on my charge ticket after review. The bid amount was charged 15% got the added $. This amount was taxed which pushes the 15% to 16% added to the cost of the bid. [(take 15% $ times 6.8% add that $ to the 15% $ then divide by bid $ = actual % fee)] Now the tricky part.. If you pay with credit card you are over paying. The fee for the credit card was 3.2% not 3%. They also charged that 3.2% to the item bid plus the 15%. This means you are being charged twice on top of the 15%. This pushes the % fee added to the bid to 16.2%. Now not only do they charge the total by 3.2% but they also charge tax on that value. Which means you are paying tax twice on their 15% fee. Since my bid was not high this only resulted in a few dollars over. So I didn't complain. However the bigger the bid the bigger the dollar amount. I know what you are thinking chump change. Multiply a few extra dollars times a few hundred items times multiple auctions times all year long = $. No big deal I will just have to watch that in the future. I'm not sure if they are aware. With tax and 15% fee they are usually no deals to be had. Be mindful and be prepared...

I was the backup winning bidder for the Airstream at Michael Roger’s online auction. To my surprise, I was contacted shortly after the sale and told there was a bid dispute and the high bidder dropped out (His loss was my gain) and if I was interested I could inspect it before making a decision.

It was clear there were some issues and this should have been expected for such a low winning bid that the Airstream was not in mint condition. The headliner needs replacing and there is some floor damage from where the bathroom toilet had leaked and a few minor cosmetic issues. An Airstream Excella 1000, is valued at $10,000 to $12,000 in this condition and $16,000 to $24,000 with these minor issues fixed. There is not much difference in the value between a 1996 and a 1999.

I have been going to auctions for over 25 years and it never surprises me how some people bid blindly and think they can get something for nothing and if it is not what they expected then they complain about it and blame someone for their mistakes. At all auctions, live or online, states Terms and Conditions of the Sale, “As is, Where is” which means, the fall of the hammer, You Bought It, It’s yours. So inspect and bid wisely my friends. There are deals out there!

Mr. Rogers was very professional and treated me with the utmost respect and I will continue to do business with Roger’s Auctioneers in the near...
