THE WORST AIRPORT EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! Most incompetent security check process I've ever witnessed, it took us 2 hours to get through with a 5am flight. There was only one running x-ray machine with zero effort to fix the other. TSA pre check customers were given priority at a 5-1 rate causing a back up, riot worthy, that exceeded the dedicated waiting area 200%. Nearly every bag that went through the x-ray scan was set aside and completely dug through again individually, extending the back up even further. Half way through the line a United flight leaving the same time as ours was given priority; these customers were allowed cut the line while my pregnant wife and I were held in stressful suspenseful minutes away from our original flight departure time.
Due to the security back up every single flight in the entire airport was delayed; ours by over 2 hours and we're still waiting... The real sad thing is that security area was recently renovated and it's now MUCH WORSE than before! We were here early, and a back up of this magnitude is unacceptable!
Getting through security was only half the problem. Our flight has been further delayed 3 times due to mehanical issues; sure makes a person feel safe flying on that plane. We've completely missed our connection flight to our destination absolutely destroying our wedding anniversary trip! At this point it would have been faster to drive to Minneapolis and fly out from there directly; pretty sad considering it would be a 4 hour drive.
This has been an extremely stressful experience! Anyone who values their time or hard earned money planning an expensive trip should AVOID...
Read moreWe flew into Souix Falls, SD Airport today at 4:10pm after traveling all day (I woke up at 3am with a 3 year old and a 3 month old). When we got to baggage claim we discovered our bags and carseats had come in on an earlier flight and they were locked up for safe keeping. Nice, right? No. I scanned their code to speak to customer service and waited for someone to respond. I told them we were waiting with an infant and a toddler and we had been up since 3, they responded with "hello" and never responded again. I tried calling baggage customer service the lady told me the airport was closed at 4:30 in the afternoon and would reopen in the morning but I can't leave because I need catseats. I tried to ask other people working at the airport if they could help me and they said no that I needed to wait at the united customer service counter for someone to come out and help me but there's no one there. These other people who worked for a different airline wouldn't even attempt to page someone for me and just kept telling me to do all the same things I had already tried. I'm sitting my the locked baggage door in tears trying one more time to call baggage customer service and was put on hold for 40 minutes after already waiting for an hour and a half with 2 cranky babies and some random guy that worked for united happened to walk by and ask if I needed help. So he finally got my bags out for me. I can't believe the amount of inconsiderate people that work at this airport. That was a truly awful experience someone should be...
Read moreFrontier airlines lost my son’s Seabag. The “Lost Luggage” signs direct you to locate an agent for help. There were no agents to be found. We asked agents from United, because they were literally the only airport workers at the ticket counter, but they were rude and condescending because we dared asked how to locate a Frontier worker.
When we saw another airport employee and asked for help, she said, “whoop-de-doo military,” when I said it was important that he find his military bag. Needless to say, that was upsetting.
An American Airlines agent who I thought was being helpful by trying to contact a Frontier agent, apparently felt the need to make a nasty comment about me to the Frontier agent because I was “making a fuss”. The Frontier agent, who finally showed up after an hour and a half, reiterated the comment about me to my son, put a finger to his face, and shushed him when he tried to respond. Then she had the audacity to say to my son, a Marine, while looking at his military ID, that she was being rude to him because agents get “beat up” a lot.
Apparently the employees at the Sioux Falls airport have it tougher than the men and women of the United States Marine Corps. I guess that’s why they feel it’s okay to disrespect members of the military and their families. And waiting an hour and a half for “help” only to be belittled is unacceptable. Do better, Sioux Falls...
