This will be long — bare with me! My husband and I love Grand Falls and go relatively often because we love it. We’ve gotten to be friends with many of the dealers on the floor.
However, I had the absolute WORST experience I’ve ever had at a spa. It was my best friends 30th birthday so I suggested a few of our friends go to the spa, then Ruthies, then spend the night at grand falls.
We had called about spa services in Jan and then told us to call back in Feb since their reservations for April weren’t open yet. No problem. We called and got four of us booked for massages and pedicures.
One week prior to our reservation we get a call that they don’t have enough staff so we will have to do 2 massages, 2 facials and 4 pedicures. Frustrating, but okay. They say we can figure out who is doing what when we get there.
So we arrive for our appointments and fill our necessary paperwork. I am getting a message so I go sit in the waiting room. They call my friends name (who was not getting the massage, instead of mine), so I politely explain that she is getting a facial and I am doing the massage. I got told “Ok then sit back down”. I wait another few minutes and she calls my name. She said she didn’t look at my paperwork and I asked what I want done. I led by saying I’m 18 weeks pregnant. She asks if I have a note from a doctor. I explained I was never told I needed one and she said this is because I was booked for a facial, not a massage. I explain the situation and tell her that we all 4 were originally booked for massages, so that’s not the case. She said that I wasn’t labeled as a prenatal massage and I told her I wasn’t asked what kind of massage ever. She said fine we will just proceed.
Talk about not relaxing, I was about ready to just leave regardless. Instead I went through with the massage, it was mostly fine. Until about 3/4 of the way through she says “I figured it wasn’t just fat under your robe”, apparently referencing me being pregnant. I was appalled and extremely self conscious the rest of the night. I am 18 weeks pregnant and have barely put any weight in, but wouldn’t ever want to hear this if I was 35 weeks either.
We ended up paying $800 for our bill, fine, this was expected but NOT worth it to be treated...
Read moreI’m really not one to complain about these types of things but I was really disappointed with my experience today. My sweet husband got me a massage for my birthday, so i booked it and got a call a couple of days prior saying to bring my suit as i could have full access to the sauna, steam room, whirl pool etc. very excited about this. When I arrived I was rushed to my massage room where the massage was not good…. At all :(
I kept telling myself it would be fine as i could use the spa services afterwards and that would make it worth it. Massage was done and as I was escorted out of my room, the lady let me know that the spa was closed now, but i could use the pool. (65° and raining- not their fault but still.)
I told the receptionist who said she could call her manager and see if i could use the services tomorrow but I’m not available tomorrow so she said sorry 🤷🏼♀️ As a first time guest this left a bad taste. Super unfortunate. They had left a message on my phone a day prior- maybe could have included the closing time of the spa services and advised to come prior to my massage to...
Read moreI travel full time, always go to Aveda Salons for my hair, and have been to numerous salons around the country - this Aveda Salon is my favorite so far! I’ve had cut and color done by Susie here twice now and am super pleased. Susie is cordial, very professional, and pleasantly efficient. I added a pedicure service on my 2nd visit, and am very happy with that as well. New pedicure chairs and excellent attention to detail. The spa is divided up nicely and very quiet and peaceful even when busy. Desk staff are polite and helpful. I will be back whenever I’m near the...
