🌊 Hidden in the mountain resort town of Sky Valley, GA, Mud Creek Falls tumbles 100 feet down a rocky cliff just steps from the road — proof that not all beautiful waterfalls require a long hike. 💧 Fed by Mud Creek, which begins high in the Blue Ridge Mountains, this cascade flows year-round and is framed by lush rhododendron and hardwoods. The waterfall sits at about 3,400 ft elevation, making it one of the higher-elevation falls in Georgia. Fun fact: Sky Valley is Georgia’s highest incorporated city, known for its cool summers and snowy winters. ❄️🌿 Sky Valley was once home to Georgia’s first ski resort, opened in the 1970s. Though the slopes and lifts have long since closed, you can still catch glimpses of its snowy past alongside today’s lush hiking trails and golf courses. While you’re there, explore the quaint town of Clayton for antique shops and farm-to-table dining, take a scenic hike up to Rabun Bald (Georgia’s second-highest peak), or pop over the NC border to Highlands for more waterfalls and mountain views. 📍Sky Valley, GA 🚗 2 hours from Atlanta, GA 🐶 Dogs allowed 🥾 No hike!

A very nice waterfall less than 100 yards from where you park. We walked about half a mile down the trail, but there wasn't a whole lot too it. It was neat that they have some tree identification markers since my daughter is interested in forestry. Well worth the trip, especially if you don't want to hike to a waterfall.

It is beautiful and very easy to walk to access the falls. It is hidden in the Sky Valley Country Club. You will see a sign when you get to the bottom of the hill after the pool after turning into the community.

The falls are gorgeous! The parking area is really small but you can walk right up to the falls easily. There is a trail that is easy, pretty flat the whole way. We walked from the falls all the way down to the Sky Valley overlook and back and Strava said it was 2.76 miles. There is an old covered bridge a little before the overlook that is neat. Entering the covered bridge is off limits per signage and washout just in front of it. If you want to go to the overlook be aware you will walk in the grass on the side of the road but the guard rail separates you from the road. Also be aware there are no restrooms at...

Mud Creek Falls is a nice 75-foot waterfall below the lake at the Sky Valley Golf Course. There is a small parking area at the end of Tahoe Lane so no hike required. We wanted a hike, so parked at the Sky Valley Overlook on GA-246 and hiked the 1-mile Mud Creek Trail to the falls. It's a real nice hike and recommended for those looking for a longer visit to...
