Holy undulations Batman! This is one of the hilliest golf courses I've ever played at. Shanking it to the right like I always tend to do can result in a hundred foot elevation difference with where you meant to be.
While there's sadly a lack of water in this course, the terrain more than makes up the difference. My favorite hole has the black tees on one side of a ravine and the red and white on the other. You really have to shoot a gap between the trees AND clear the ravine to even make the fairway.
On another note, I know exactly where you can go to find a lot of spare balls. I heard a few land there while I was playing other holes actually.
I miraculously threaded the needle. A thing that never happens to me when I'm up against a tough shot. As evidenced by the 19 trees I hit directly when trying to go under, around, or through the branches.
Fun...
Read moreLiving outside of Cache County, it’s a shame I can’t play this course as much as one would like. Country Club quality conditions, pure greens, stunning visuals of the Valley set up on the shelf in Smithfield, and a friendly but very fair golf course. Would be a private club very easily in many other locations.
“Best course in the valley” is of course subjective. Many golfers like this course because it’s quite open and hard to lose a ball, in comparison to a tighter course like Logan River. The Logan Country Club is somewhere between the two in terms of space off the tee + difficult holes. Birch Creek is a course where you can hit driver 13-14 times in a round with little worry, so if that’s your cup of tea, this course...
Read moreI recently drove up from salt lake city (two hours) each way and got thrown into the middle of a men's association tournament. Did they mention this when I called, you ask? No! The first four holes took about 2 hours. The friend who I was playing with, that had driven down from Pocatello!! and I said forget it and we walked off. They had also just punched most of their fairways. Did they mention this when we called... Of course not! This is a nice course, but I cannot and will not support a pro shop that cares so little about it's customers. I've learned my lesson; I now ask every pro shop I call about what's going on, if anything, but this is just common courtesy imo. Very...
