Dollar General — Local services in Smithville

Update: This store definitely is under new management. I was penny shoping along side a very sweet lady that shared so many items with me. I am not exhausting, she physically walked to find me several times and she gave me so many things. It was a pleasure to meet her. But the male employee, walked up to me and told me, he hopes I am scanning products on my phone because he isn't price checking anything and he ain't taking nothing off. The lady took a filled cart to the front and got another cart, when she returned, she said the guy told her that he hated her. We both laughed it off but my experience at the register let me know that he wasn't kidding and don't get me wrong he did price check 2 items but he didn't take anything off and by the end of my transaction I just opted to put things back rather than be forced to spend money that I didn't want to. So if you are going to this store, you better make sure you have enough money.

Normally I do not do reviews but I want to say that the times that I have came into this store the employees have been extremely helpful and nice to me. Carrie and a young black female have always given me an outstanding time at the store.

The reason for this review and the 1 star is because I overheard the manager, Shannon, using racial slurs while talking to someone else. And this should not be tolerated and this gives Dollar General a bad look to have a manager who is so uncaring and racist. The guys outside was great and help with service. Very polite and knowledgeable. Oddly, the fellow inside that rang me up was not as pleasant. Also, he was very short with me when I had a question or two to ask considering this was my first visit. I will go back for the service men outside because they was awesome.
