We were looking for a safe getaway from Covid and Political Chaos of 2020. Having not left home for 6 months we wanted a location that was off the beaten path. Wow did we choose well! The directions are very detailed and you will need them to reach the location. We have a Sprinter Van which is more like a truck. No problems although turning around is a bit close for larger vehicles. Room is small and cozy with a lovely deck over a wonderful creek. We enjoyed the deck in the late afternoon but it was a bit cool with a temp of 44 in the morning. Good heating and cooling, very comfortable bed. Small kitchen has everything you need to heat up food you bring with you. There is a small refrigerator which was more than adequate for us - if staying longer you might need a cooler. The porch you pass through to get to your room is shared with the owners. Not a problem for us. We saw them when we arrived, at breakfast, and when we left. Very good breakfast served if you choose it. There was fancy satelliite TV and movies but we chose not to use them. There is no WIFI and cell phones do not work. This was a plus for us. You can use the hosts landline if needed. Hosts were very friendly but not intrusive. The creek was...
Read moreThis is an amazing little off the beaten path cabin in the woods. I can’t really explain how it feels to stay there and no pictures will do the beauty of this place justice. The sound of the river In the back will literally cleanse you of your worries and take the weight of life with it down the mountain into oblivion. My wife was moved to tears and she was so thankful for the getaway for her birthday. Our hosts were amazing and more than accommodating. You will not have cell service but honestly you won’t need it. The landline is plenty. 5 stars isn’t enough. A few tips: Start heading in before it gets dark Get food before heading in (it’s not scary far from town but it’s a trip) Although it’s accessible by car I will add 4x4 is not necessary but will help ease a bit of worry if you’re not used to gravel paths There is no WiFi but they do have cable and DVDs. Bring your own or download your favorite movies before you get there Follow the provided directions! We are glad we did because we would’ve gotten lost for sure if we hadn’t! Once again I have nothing but positives and I think we will be coming back to this place or the junction for another stay...
Read moreAlice, Doug and Skippy were such wonderful hosts! Absolutely loved our stay there and can't wait to go back again. Like the others have mentioned, reaching the Owl's Perch requires you to drive a little on graveled road. However, Alice gave us detailed instructions on how to get there and we did not face any problems following them. The location of the house makes it all worth the drive! :) We found a dog on the way that we thought was lost (silly us!) but turned out she likes roaming around nearby - Doug and Alice were kind enough to accommodate her and make sure we got her back home. We stayed there for 2 days and the breakfast was heavenly! Alice also ensured that we got maps of the area and gave us tips of places to visit nearby. Skippy is adorable and one of the gentlest dogs I've ever met. He's such a sweetheart! :) Like I said earlier, can't wait...
