SDC Building Center — Local services in Somerset Township

A locally owned "small" business. Shop local and support your community and neighbors. The prices are not at Lowe's level but it is a professional contractor business that happens to accommodate the weekend warriors too. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Especially if you get Mya. She is a wonderful young lady and they're lucky they have her. The same can be said for all of the full timers. Not to knock the kids that come and go. They are perfectly fine too. The customer service gets them a 5 out of 5 on it's own.

The selection is vast despite them not carrying the brands I prefer to use in my specialty trade, they can order them. It is very close to my home which more than makes up for some items being slightly more than the big box stores. Plus, as I said above, you're supporting your local community. The quality and selection of building materials, i.e. wood, cannot be beat by any Lowe's...

I drove 50 minutes to this store location just because the johnstown store didn't have what I needed in stock. Somehow the price was 50.00 more for this item just because it was a different store location. The only reason i gave 2 stars is because thr employees were very nice people but they couldmt price match even though its the exact sane thing at the exact same company just a different location. I would encourage everyone to support this business instead of lowes. The employees are all very knowledgeable. At lowes, the employee didn't know what soffit and fascia was. When he did figure it out, the quality was cheap. We purchased everything we needed at SDC and although expensive, the quality was there and the young guys that loaded our truck were very pleasant and took great care loading our purchases. While the employees were loading our truck, I looked around at their lumber. Very good quality. Please support this...
