Pine Mountain Lake Equestrian Center — Local services in Sonora

This place is a gem, especially for families with young children! Our kids (under 5 years) have been taking lessons here for a couple of years. Not only are the lessons affordable, the staff are fantastic. They teach the children real horsemanship and riding skills, unlike other places we've been where the kids basically just sit on the horse while an instructor leads them around. Our kids are learning how to groom and saddle their horses. In the arena, they're learning how to steer and control their speed. The facilities are clean, the horses are very well-taken care of, and I can't say enough great things about the staff. Such an awesome facility ran by amazing people who work hard to keep it as beautiful as it is. There’s a well groomed arena two full barns, two round pins. They provide full care service. Horses get turned out everyday. Stalls get cleaned and waters always filled. Also It’s in a beautiful location, perfect for visitors and open to the public for tours. They also offer lessons and trail rides and have an amazing string of horses to accommodate each specific rider. Not good for families with young kids. We signed up for a trail ride and only after we paid and got up on the horses the woman in charge decided they would only offer a training area ride (in the arena). Most of the staff were friendly but one of the people in charge was patronizing, bordering on chiding / scolding. Although it is a lovely setting, I do not recommend signing up your kids to do a trail ride at...
