My review is strictly in regards to JB's, and only in the limited scope of what I've experienced.
The beer menu is a step in the right direction, with plenty of choices from VA and smaller breweries, though the selection could be varied and matured.
The new color scheme and the lighting in the restaurant leaves a lot to be desired in a bar, but since it appears that it is moving away from that image and towards a more family oriented place, I suppose it's understandable, though still, too bright, on both accounts. At least dim the lights a bit, so that the bright blue interior of the restaurant isn't so...bright. haha
The food is a mixed bag. There were things that were great (I had the classic hot wings, boneless) and things that leave you scratching your head (the loaded house chips) - what possesses an individual to take the time to make chips that are very good, use real bacon, and then destroy the whole dish by using canned nacho cheese!? Please, throw all of the nacho cheese away and replace it with either a soft cheese, easily melted (queso blanco, for instance) or just layer in shredded cheddar.
All in all, the experience wasn't bad, it was just...incomplete? I felt like it stopped a step or two from being truly good, but it was definitely on...
Read moreWhen I visited the WOS, I was very disappointed. First off, the bowling alley is definitely outdated. I was surprised to see that it was nearly empty when I first arrived there, but once I saw the filthy and old-looking environment, I wasn't very shocked. The alley I bowled on with my friends broke at least two times per game, and the service could've been better. Also, someone suggested to me not to use the restrooms due to them being highly unsanitary. The arcade games are old as well. I don't know why I keep expecting something new. The popcorn is also disgusting. I will never go to a movie there ever again; I'd rather drive all the way to Danville to see a movie. The theaters are gross as well. Everything is just outdated. I wish the owner, Jay, would take a hint. I have a feeling this place will be out of business soon unless any major changes are made soon. There are far better...
Read moreI love the world of sports. Each time I take my family there I reminisce how many fun times I had there when I was young. The staff is very friendly and it's something to do in South Boston. I love the arcade and bowling. I haven't visited the skating rink resently. We catch movies there sometimes. The one and only complaint I have is the popcorn it's not fresh and it's been like that for years. The smell of fresh popped popcorn is what makes customers buy more other than that you will continue to have...
