Au Sable River — Local services in South Branch Township

Looking for a relaxing float down a river. Maybe a few ice cold drinks... A few of those roll your own cigarettes ;) Took a few trips down this beautiful river, its great for kids and beginners, though the dams can be a pain to paddle through... They should just call them lakes you could spend hours just getting across one dam. Awesome state land sites with small clean outhouse, very secluded. You'll hit other groups every once in a great while on the river, but for the most part your not seeing...

We have kayaked on this river many times. We usually get out on it 2 to 3 times a summer. Crystal clear water, cool and flows avg 3 mph. When the sun is out as today, you can hardly beat it. It is also one of the premier trout streams in the country. That last full weekend of July, the river hosts a canoe marathon from the town of Grayling, MI to Lake Huron. It takes about 24 hours to complete. I believe about 125 to 130...
