Came from the Asheville area to check this place out as most of the climbing near me is currently out of commission from the hurricane. It was a really nice spot and I’ll def be back. They had a surprising amount of routes and a fun amount of variety. It was also a friendly atmosphere - lots of creativity with the decoration and route names, and it had a less intense atmosphere than some of the other climbing gyms I’ve been to. If you bring your own gear (harness/shoes/belay device) the first time fee is a bit lower, too. They have a couple of auto-belays, but I’d either plan to bring a belayer or use their belay service.
Only thing I would say to the more serious climbers is that the ratings seemed a little off to me - I climb at 5.8/5.9 and I flashed a 10b here, and then some of the 5.9s felt harder than the 10b. But if 5.11/5.12 is a challenge for you, then you will have some challenging+fun routes.
Overall, def worth...
Read moreThis gym is so janky. First off, there was probably about 15 people inside when I went in, and only ONE person working which is super dangerous because there was a group of children just climbing and jumping all over the place. Second, they are being SUPER irresponsible about covid-19. Signs on the walls and you have to technically "register" for a time slot but they've never even asked for my name. No mask requirement, even though people are heavy breathing all over the same holds and it's not a huge space. When I mentioned something about it the guy at the front desk said a bunch of ignorant nonsense about how SC doesn't have that much covid even though we currently have one of the fastest growth rates in the country. Definitely not going back. No wonder people would rather drive an extra 45 minutes to go to the...
Read moreBrought my 7yo nephew climbing yesterday, and IT CHANGED OUR LIVES. There was a silver fox working on staff that gave us much needed extra attention. Thank you. The environment was electrical, much to do and see, and SUPER CLEAN. My nephew is pushing me to purchase a family membership. I will most likely do so because I am smitten with the place. I just bought a harness, caribeener (oops...spelling?) and ordered shoes from Half-Moon Outfitters this afternoon FOR MYSELF. Let's just say it is official. If you have been curious, just adventure out like we did. You will thank yourself later. Thaaaanks a million to Climb at blue Ridge. You have helped to bond our way into a health and...
