Such classic Americana! Thank goodness places like this still exist roadside to charm and entertain! I'd passed by here during my many visits. Admittedly I stopped by aiming to see all of the rescued birds and other critters but fell in love with the whole place! The country store element was one thing but you could tell they have a pretty savvy buyer as the soaps, bath salts, candles, are well above the cut and unexpected inside of an old "General Store" as it were. Very upscale boutique which was a great contrast and surprise to all of the other cool items for sale. There's also what I all just enough country "flavor" which isn't everyone's thing but if you don't own a mailbox that Minnie Pearl would have what's the point! Good kitchenware too. I was semi-shocked but then again, not, to find an impressive cold section featuring bacons, cured hams, cheeses, pickles, other meats, many sourced from the area and felt a bit in heaven over it. I quickly nabbed up the nitrate free Cajun bacon and cheese curds! More evidence of a smart buyer and high compliments to the wide variety of old timey sodas and other canned and bottled drinks that you'd hope to find in such a vintage store. While I ordered a latte, and a good one at that, I may small talk with guy and gal running things that day and watched others shopping. You could tell that kids were overwhelmed by all of the candies, chocolates and food goods for miles and it is admittedly tantalizing stuff. But kids really love this place as much as the adults and when I mentioned it to one woman with her son, she grew less impatient suddenly and decided to be a kid again herself and explore the upstairs retail areas and later looked to be having much more fun that she herself expected while enjoying the animals out back. Made me feel good! There's a boatload of pottery and yard art as well as plants for sale across place and if I lived in the area would aim here first over a corporate store if just for the plant quality alone. Maybe not the variety across the board but healthier. The many tropical birds are very charming and surreal in their beauty and such mystique looks they give you as they study you intently. Some spoke others just beautifully squawked. The Toucan was stunning! I also loved the baby wallaby and the monkey Walter was entertaining but seems a bit food driven or forget it! Loved the teacup pig who loved being scratched. The giant bunnies were a site and the Sulcata tortoise was incredible! I think if I lived here they'd see me way to often! My only suggestion might be that they bring up the level in the toy room selection. Like find a buyer like some of the other areas. Some things were very cool and maybe just a presentation thing but thought it lacked some ooomph that everything else had. And if they ever get the old waterwheel cranking again that would really be something! Anyway not a negative at all and God Bless the place for being...
Read moreMy recent visit to Dunrovin Country Store was nothing short of a delightful experience that transported me to a simpler, more charming time. This hidden gem is a haven for those seeking a taste of rustic nostalgia.
From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by the warm, inviting atmosphere that defines Dunrovin. The quaint wooden facade and the cheerful, homey design gave the impression of a bygone era, where community and neighborly values reigned supreme. This impression was not only maintained but exceeded throughout my visit.
The interior of Dunrovin Country Store exudes a sense of authenticity that is rare to find in our fast-paced, modern world. The rare clutter strung about on the shelf, the smell of fresh ice-cream and the sound of nostalgic music created a comfy atmosphere and shopping experience.
One of the highlights of my visit was exploring the store's wide selection of locally sourced products. From handmade crafts to artisanal cheeses, the shelves were filled with unique treasures. I couldn't resist picking up some homemade jams and preserves, each bursting with flavors that were a testament to the region's bounty.
Dunrovin's commitment to supporting local artisans and farmers is truly commendable. It's not just a store; it's a hub of community and sustainability.
I adore the random trinkets you can find around the store. Each Isle, every shelf is like a mini treasure trove with unique gems just waiting to be discovered. I bought myself a Dark Knight themed Painting, which I keep on the wall next to my bed.
In conclusion, Dunrovin Country Store is a rare find in today's world, a place where time slows down, and the essence of rural charm is preserved. It's a testament to the values of community, sustainability, and authenticity. My experience there was a journey back in time, a reminder of the beauty and simplicity that can be found in the countryside. Whether you're a local resident or just passing through, a visit to Dunrovin is an experience you won't soon forget. It's a true treasure of the state, and I can't...
Read moreWonderful place! Tons of eye candy. It's like a giant souvenir shop but it also has an area where you can buy almost anything Christmas year round. Basically if you can think it they probably have it. The website said people usually spend 30 minutes here. However if this is your first time going I recommend you designate at least 2 hours to just looking around, trust me you will need it and it'll be worth it! I can't wait to go back! Ok this is and add on to the first half because now I have been back to Dunrovins Country Store and let me tell you there is so much of it ! There is an upstairs that we did not see the first time going. We stayed a couple of hours this time too. I wish that someone would change there listing on Google where it says that people usually spend 30 minutes here because that is incredibly misleading, you definitely need a couple of hours at least and make sure you go back at least one more time. I guarantee you that you will see things that you didn't see the first time. Also we were going to leave and we walk around to look at the statues and things outside and guess what we found, An exotic bird park! They actually rescue exotic birds and give them a good home and then we get to come and look at them for free! And there's not just one or two, there was like 20 or so. This is a great place to bring your kids. The park is very colorful and exciting. There are all kinds of cool, colorful animal status and even a very large beautiful dragon and about a 7 foot Sasquatch. They even have a large coy pond with at least 8 large coy in it. And they are still expanding the park, they were building on it while we were there. Everyone should at least see Dunrovin Country Store at least once, you definitely won't regret it. I promise. If you liked what I had to say please let me know by hitting like. Thank you and have...
