Hailing from Aroostook, my customer service standards are rather high. There is quite a change in the atmosphere in the store this year. Hours were not posted. I walked in 3 minutes before closing time (5:57pm). A woman approached looking annoyed. She did not greet me. She said “We’re not making sandwiches!” I asked, “pizza?” Her response was, “No. We close in 3 minutes.” Got it. I took a quick look around for a few provisions and she announced “Two minutes!” I looked out the window to see if my partner had arrived on foot. She observed this and I explained I drove ahead from the boat yard. “Doesn’t matter! We close in 1 minute!” I told her I understood and left. Simply put, she wasn’t nice. Read moreUnsanitary. First time I came here I got food poisoning from a BLT, no other way that could have happened unless someone back there was not washing their hands. My sister got a turkey sandwich and also got food poisoning. Second time I came, I asked for tomatoes on my sandwich and the girl touches her face and then digs around a bucket of cut tomatoes with her bare hands. Took a look into the back, not a single person wearing gloves. Then, I asked for some hand sanitizer. Not a single clerk has any idea where any sanitary wipes or lotions would be. Not a great look. Used to come here all the time as a kid, a little disappointed. I know this sounds Karen, I work in a restaurant and was a bit shocked. I think the place is great, people are friendly, vibes are spectacular, and it brings a lot to Southport, I just was a bit taken back on the recent change in...
Read moreSuch a perfect country store! They don’t make them like this anymore. Sub sandwiches, pizzas to go by the slice or the whole AND they make a ton of meals to go. Chicken, steak, pastas, salads. All the regular summer stuff, homemade potato salads, and Cole slaw etc, as well as desserts. They make all kinds of pies and cakes fresh. They also have a bakery in the morning and make muffins scones, crumb bars, croissants, full service coffee bar with hot coffee in multiple brews and flavors as well as a cappuccino and latte espresso machine. We have been here almost every day this summer. The grocery selection has saved us many times from going over to town thank god! Go to Southport General, you will...
