Wanted an easy trail and this was one of the park ranger's recommendations at the visitor center and after reading online reviews thought it was a good fit. We were in Acadia two days and this was perfect for the 2nd day as we had already seen the main sights on the first day. Easy trail with rocks that you need to pick up your feet so you don’t trip but otherwise most people could go fine. The beach was lovely - quintessential Acadia with pine trees, rocks, ocean, tide pools - everything you would ask for and flat so really at the ocean and not overlooking it. Fast walk to get there so don’t "need" much time but we probably spent more time enjoying the ocean area than the actual walk to get to it, so on the whole it takes whatever time you decide. Beach was very rocky (more softball sized rocks) so had to watch each step but really just a nice spot and easy walk on trail before you get to beach. Wish trail was better marked as easy to find but when we left I started to take an offshoot and didn’t realize until my friend said that’s not where we came from. Who knows where we could have ended and all that was needed would have been a small sign pointing to trailhead to help visitors. We went on a weekday so easy to find parking. No bathroom but just one minute car ride to Ship Harbor Trail which has one pit toilet (we didn’t do that trail but was also a recommendation from ranger as an...

This trail is best for those that have kids, grandparents, or those that can’t hike the harder trails.

The hike to the beach on this trail is about 1.5 miles and the views start from the beginning to the end. Start your walk through the beautiful woods and wildflowers and end at the Gulf of Maine with tide pools and sand for kids to play and explore in.

For the moderate to experience hikers this can be an easy warmup, but there isn’t much challenge or views...

Took this walk with my two young boys, and it's a gem. Early in the morning gives you a much less touristy experience. The trail winds through forest canopy until reaching a more open path lined with beach roses. The kids loved it and could manage the walk easy enough. But they absolutely loved getting to the rocks on the beach. We arrived at high tide but they still loved jumping from rock to rock. A great family hike, especially with...

This is a great place for kids to explore some tide pools near low tide. The trail itself is pretty flat and quite easy. Obviously clamoring around on the rocks can be a bit more precarious (slippery and craggy). All of the tidepools we saw in Acadia pale in comparison to those we saw in Olympic national park, but we still saw several crabs, lots of small snails and hermit crabs, and a few sea urchins.

There’s a lot to do on Mount Desert Island, but it’s worth the drive out just for this trail! We were easily able to find street parking and the trail is the perfect length for younger visitors, or anyone with slight mobility issues. Our kids loved climbing around on the rocks and our dog loved exploring too! Great trail for anyone looking for a picturesque reward at the end.
