I don't even think the ER department at Sparta Community even deserves the 1star that I had no other option but to give. I've NEVER been so disrespected nor have I ever seen so many health care professionals be so unprofessional. Doctor Kathryn MacDonald and the nursing staff present that day was unbelievable shocking and a true disappointment. After going through a lab tech and 3 RN'S they were finally able to start an IV however It took 4 more attempts when it came to getting blood cultures. It was as if no one really knew what they were job duties were. They could be heard in the hallway putting down and taking about other patients that were currently being seen. Within several different conversations NONE of them were abiding by the HIPPA laws and patients privacy act laws. Instead of Dr. MacDonald entering my room addressing herself. She came in with her arms folded and said, "What seems to be your problem today" I'm very fortunate and blessed I'm not from this area and this isn't my local hospital. I was only in town visiting family over the weekend when a sickness came up on me and I had to be rushed to the ER. So now if I'm an outsider and I saw such unprofessional and disrespectfulness in the few short hours I was there. I can only imagine what the locals see and think. However something needs to be done! Dr. MacDonald has definitely lost her compassion and dedication when it comes to patient care. I definitely left with a bitter taste...
Read moreHospitals are required to provide you with prices and they refused to tell me how much things cost.
I will say that the nurses were very compassionate and showed true concern even when I almost bled out in my sleep due to a misplaced Iv.
And one even offered to wipe me off because the shower in my room did not operate.
My room was so dirty The privacy curtain in my room for sure was not washed in years.
Dr Coulter lied to me and said I was being admitted as an outpatient so I would not get a huge bill. Not true at all.
Billing started calling out my assets over speaker phone at my work and threatened to put a lein on my home.
They sued me 30 days after I got the bill.
Off to court we went.
They do not respect your privacy at all
They gave 3 different people a copy of my medical records (not in an envelope) . Collection lawyer, a server. And a guy named Steven who was on my front porch.
Hospital Price Transparency Rule. As of Jan. 1, 2021, hospitals are required to publicly post via machine-readable files five different “standard charges”: gross charges; payer-specific negotiated rates; de-identified minimum and maximum negotiated rates; and discounted cash prices Absolutely terrible billing department. Dishonest and inflated bills. $6000 for a CT scan. What? $600 for a covid test. Insane Old outdated hospital with limited resources. Just...
Read moreVery kind and Caring Staff. This isn’t a Level 1 hospital, meaning critical care hospital. The staff in the Er are kind and caring. With my situation, I had to be transported to a Level 1 hospital in Saint Luis. The ER department was excellent and I got in and out extremely fast. The second time I went I was admitted. The staff at the hospital was so kind and was accommodating to my husband. All the times I’ve been there either just getting labs done or going to the Emergency room, they have been extremely friendly. I’m surprised at how fast you get out. Especially the ER. The big hospitals can take several hours to even see you. Then several hours for care. I’m kind of a difficult case so I can understand that sometimes care cannot be given there. It’s a great hospital for those going for broken bones, flu, and just minor general care or for observation. It’s great to see that people there are very personable. I hate being hospitalized and going to the emergency room. One thing I like is that they don’t treat you like a number like most if not all big hospitals. I’ve had really bad experiences at local hospitals in the Chicago land area so it’s so nice to see such a small hospital be so kind and caring. Never have I been to a small hospital before and I’m pleasantly...
