I'm so the ONLY reason I stopped (because I new they were closed) was because I ran out of gas but luckily was able to coast a block to Vick's. So I pulled up to gas pumps hoping maybe they had added pay at the pump service & if not I thought surly Vick would help a person who ran out of gas out even if he charged extra for his troubles I would be more than happy to pay. But to my complete SHOCK when I called a lady answer & I first apologize for calling so late & then explained were I was my situation & begged kindly if they could please help me out... And this is what she said in a rather rude voice "Nope we are closed for the night"!!!! I said with a shocking voice ummm ok well I'm sorry but my car is stuck here until I can get a hold of someone to come out here & pick me up to go get gas elsewhere I guess. Her response with the same attitude was "ok" & hung up.... I it totally disguste me that a ACTUAL place of business could would & did turn their back on a person in need especially in small town Iowa. It's not like I had gas & just wanted to grab some more nor was I asking for free gas!!! Just some damn gas so I could get home at 11pm at night.. I no my review won't hurt their business by no means but besides losing me & anyone I no as future customer at least people no what kind of owners they are & how they had ZERO problems leaving a lady stranded at night!!! Shame on you people & I hope you never need someone's help cuz you might not...

Vick's gas station, opened up by Layton's parents, has been in business since 1930. The U-Haul company has been running since 1958. Back then, they were the second oldest in the state of Iowa. The son of the Vick's, Layton is still running his parents gas station to this day. Layton, the 25 year old mindset trapped in a 83 year old body. This spunky man was a hoot to listen too. He has a lot of history and doesn't mind sharing it. He's a flirt, too!!! He had no hesitation telling me everything still works, if you know what I mean!! Lol Mr. Vick, said that his U-Haul company was in the top 10 oldest U-Hauls to open up in the U.S.. He said, it may be in the top 3 by now? Vick's station did see business pick up when Rag-Bri was in town. The route goes right through the front of the store. He is also one of the oldest local bait...
Read moreI don't stop here very often myself it's one of the oldest places around, they do still pump gas and they do flea markets that attract alot of people. Personally the flea market vendors are no better or worse then the other ones at treasure village or the expo building its an opinion thing. I've had good experiences and I've had bad experiences here as well. This establishment has been doing things a certain way for many many many years and can be rough around the edges sometimes, I highly recommend going through uhual directy for anything uhual related and skipping Vicks for the reserving and renting equipment..Just pick up and drop off the uhual...
