A true top notch facility in the dirt track world.
After decades of wanting to see Huset's in person we finally had the chance to cross it off of the bucket list and the track and racing did not disappoint!
While Huset's may be more well known for sprint cars we caught the Silver Dollar Nationals for the Lucas Oil Late Model Series and the racing was spectacular!
The track crew was faced with some weather related challenges which they handled beyond impressively. The area saw a lot of rain which forced a rain out and 2 shows packed into 1 day which is one of the toughest situation a track can face.
The track itself is awesome in person. High banked, big bull ring is the best description I have. The size just works for competitive and fast racing.
The facilities are pretty top notch, we opted to pay a bit more for stadium seats and that is a nice option. Plenty of bathrooms and concession stands, the adult beverage selection was pretty excellent, but the food was a bit below what I've come to expect from places like Knoxville and Eldora.
Overall I had a fantastic time and hope to make...
Read moreThis is the best dirt track it your looking to participate in a dirt filtering contest using your own nose and lungs. I thought it odd that our seats in the very top row were completely covered in a layer of black powder when we got there while they were still packing the track. We and other spectators had to sweep off the seats just to sit down. Once the cars started racing at speed I found out why…. This place is like being trapped in a black dust haboob. The black dust goes everywhere from top to bottom of the bleachers. It is like black powder sugar. Forget trying to eat anything once the races start. They need to add some sticky clay to the track to make the dirt stick. The water they added to the track before the last two mains didn’t make any difference. Plan on taking goggles if you want to see and a face mask if you don’t want to blow black snot out of your nose for a week… The track is way too tight for 26 cars, two lanes play follow the leader with no room to pass unless they get caught up in a slower lapped car jam. Would be a good track for 1/4 midgets...
Read moreI did not write this original post. Somehow my husband Lee was writing under my account. I do not share his opinion. I loved the race. The dirt part of it is what a person expects when going there. He may not intend too return but that's OK. It's not his thing. My children and I had fun and will return.
Been to a number of dirt race tracks. This one was far and away the worst one I had ever been too. Grit, dust, and dirt specks flying everywhere. They didn't even water down the track for the first time until right before the very last race (main event). In my opinion, the place just got plain filthy. Could not stand it. In fact, essentially, I HATED IT. Will not...
