We visit Becks Harvest House every year and have since 2016. This year we were very disappointed by the behavior of the staff running the corn cannon. The line was long, it was hot and the corn clearly needed to be restocked. After looking for 15 minutes through boxes full of nothing but corn husk we finally found 2 pieces of corn and waited for our turn. Greg was not giving any of the children direction but after they waited in the long line he was turning them away because they had pieces too large to fit in the cannon. At his feet was a huge pile of perfectly clean and appropriately sized corn cobs, but he would not trouble himself to bend down and hand them to the kids. Instead he directed the kids to get cobs from a box full of absolutely disgusting, mold covered corn covered in bugs with their bare hands. There is no hand-wash station or sanitizer or gloves available anywhere nearby. I asked him nicely if he could pretty please let me grab one of the clean ones or grab one for my smallest kiddo who would put her mold covered fingers in her mouth, posing a health hazard. He said "I have other kids to help". In the time that he was very rudely talking to me he could have picked up 10 cobs and passed them out. When I mentioned that he said "I know but I don't have to". Cool. It's $60 to bring our 3 kids into this "funland" but customer service, safety and health is not a top priority. I waited for a manager with a young lady who was at the front gates and she was extremely kind and professional. Unfortunately we had to leave before having a chance to speak with them. We typically have had great experiences here and Greg could have handled this kindly and professionally, but chose to be rude to every parent in...

We went on a Thursday. My friend had called ahead to find out details on events going on. The lady on the phone was nothing less than rude and made her feel like she was inconveniencing her by asking questions. She kept saying that they wouldn’t have the pumpkin donuts, they only do that on the weekend. None of the children activities will be open and they charge for parking on the weekend. We decided to give her the benefit of a doubt and drove an hour to get there.
My friend and her husband, my mom, son who is 10 and my 3 year old nephew and myself looked around for pumpkins. We loaded up our wheel barrels with our favorite pumpkins and headed to the check out.
Their pumpkin prices were outrageous! I bought 4 pumpkins $38!!! These were NOT big pumpkins.
My nephew was sitting in the wheel barrel after we paid for our pumpkins for a photo opp. We weren’t pushing him around in it, just sat him in there to take a few photos. This lady came down from the store and hollered very snotty at us “we don’t put kids in the wheel barrels, they break them. We use those for pumpkins”. My mom and I looked at each other in shock. She got him out of the wheel barrel and we left.
REALLY…….kids break the wheel barrels??????? Lady, you need to get your facts straight!! People use wheel barrels every day for heavier things like pumpkins……..rock, wood, concrete, mud, etc. I don’t think my 30lb nephew is going to break your wheel barrel. I think a more appropriate comment would have been “we ask that the kids don’t get in the wheel barrel for safety reasons”.
I should have returned the pumpkins. And don’t plan on going back. I’ll got to the farm down the road where they are nice and happy...
Read moreBlessed with a gorgeous sunny day yesterday, so the country ride getting there was wonderful. I appreciate that THIS farm only charged a dollar to reserve a parking spot. Of course everything was spendy, but no more than in town and worth it to spend the afternoon listening to music and enjoying the community. The small pumpkin donuts=heavenly! Let them finish baking in your bag if hot off the fryer, keep the bag open so they dont steam and will stay crisp on the outside and warm and soft in the middle. Request the cinnamon sugar coating on only one side unless u like lots of sugar. Buy your baked goods early as they run out fast! The giant pecan carmel sticky buns-AMAZING!!! $6. TOTALLY WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! They also had a variety of quality freshly baked goods-better than any typical bakery in the area. The activities need a wrist band. Lots to do for little ones. For the older crowd, the corn maze, shooting corn with some air powered device-fun,! And a tractor pulled wagon ride. The corn maze has been abused by disresptful people. It is not challenging, but still fun to go through. There is a nice gift shop and do not forget to visit the artists' show next door while you are there. Thoughts... Maybe spook up the corn maze a little for next year-not gross blood n guts, but maybe a little haunted or spooky with some scares after hours. That would be something our family would pay extra for. Would like to see more food vendors and more craft/vendor booths that are unique, but it was a really nice, fun day. The young folks working there were very friendly. I am glad we picked this as our first and probably only farm to visit this year. Thank you to the Becks for making it a...
