We’ve always appreciated this course—our oldest (10 years old) has taken lessons here with Bo for three years and is still learning the game. Because of that, he thought it would be a great idea to take his mom golfing for Mother’s Day.
We arrived 10 minutes before our tee time, and the employee in the Pro Shop immediately told us to head to the first tee in a very abrupt tone. When we got to the tee, there was a group behind us (a fast-moving threesome), so we politely let them play through to avoid slowing them down. That decision visibly upset the staff member, who went so far as to use the intercom to insist we tee off while the other group was already in motion. He even told my wife after our round that we should have informed him of that—so maybe that was our fault, but it must have offended him personally. We ended up waiting 15 minutes and teeing off well after our scheduled time.
Later, on the 6th hole, a twosome in a cart caught up to us, so we offered to let them play through as well. Again, we were simply trying to be considerate and aware that we were golfing with a child. That added another ~10 minutes to our pace as we waited for them to finish their hole and tee off.
So by the end of 9 holes, we’d spent about 2 hours and 5 minutes golfing. That’s a reasonable pace for a family round—even with two pauses to let others play through. Yet, the same staff member came out to make sure we were told we took 2.5 hours and that such a pace was “unacceptable,” and we wouldnt be welcome to return if it were busy.
We chose a quiet, rainy afternoon intentionally to avoid getting in anyone’s way. Instead of being met with patience or understanding—on Mother’s Day no less—we were made to feel like an inconvenience. It was demoralizing for a mom just trying to share a sport with her son.
This isn’t the experience we’ve come to expect from a course we’ve supported and recommended. We hope this feedback is taken seriously—not just for us, but for the kind of golf environment you...
Read moreTHE BEST PUBLIC COURSE!!! This course is hands down amazing! I mean amazing! You start off with a beautiful entrance which gets you excited for what is to come. Right off the start you are hitting off a cliff to the first hole which is a long par 4. The second hole has a crazy design built into the natural landscape with an elevated green. Hole 1, 9, 16, and 18 require you to hit over the water and can be very ruthless to those who cannot hit it straight. Hole #12 is especially brutal being a 450 yard par 4 that has a very tight fairway. You need two phenomenal woods to get to the green in two and some accuracy is necessary if you want to get a par. I have never in my life seen such a beautiful tee box as there is on hole 16 of this course. I fully regret not getting a picture of me hitting off of it and over the river. This hole gives you an easy shot at birdie and a potential shot at eagle / albatross if you are gutsy enough to take it straight over the pond and attack the green! That par 5 is one to remember! Nothing compares to what you end with though! The final par 5 requires a long drive, then you either need to lay up and hit over the 100 yard section of river / riparian zone to an uphill green that looks scary to approach. I hit a driver and then a 3 wood 230 yards to 10 yards off the green. This hole requires consistency and accuracy but is doable and leaves you with a chance at birdie if played right. Long hitters could hit the green in two but you are looking at two phenomenal shots! If you want to play a course you will never forget, get out and play the Creek...
Read moreI was a single golfer, Tee time was 6:18am, I showed up at 6:10 to check in and the gentleman at the front desk started to scold me telling me that my group already left. I told him no I tee off in 8 minutes. He said I needed to be there 20 minutes early and that tee time is when ball is in the air. I repeated to him that my tee time, ball in air time is 6:18 not 6:10. He then proceeds to tell me that it’s my fault and I need to not be late. When I was early. Then I ask nicely to have a cart and he said nope, there’s no cart lefts, as there was 2 parked on the side and 15 more in the lot waiting to be used. He then keeps proceeding to give me an attitude and lecture and then says, “ well your group is probably on the second hole by now so if you’re going to play, you better get walking. “ no where on the city website does it state “be there 15-20 minutes before your tee time” this isn’t a country club, it’s a city course. And they had over 15-20 golf carts just sitting in their lot not being used. Even on the busiest day of the week. Good to see more of the cities money just sit and not be used. And also, would recommend a coaching for that employee on how to talk and speak to customers and how to de-escalte situations. No body coming to a city course to golf should be treated with any attitude or disrespect. Great job qaulchan!...
