Built in 1909! This store really brings back memories of a time almost forgotten one that many will never know! Mr Charlie and his ladies behind the counter will treat you like your old friend! Their genuine kindness and southern hospitality is second to none! Stop in go inside fill out a card and get a sandwich made just how you like it! They use only fresh Boars head meats and cheeses on their sandwiches! While you wait meander over to the coolers and grab an ice cold sundrop, peach Nehi, or RC Cola, all 3 still in glass bottles here, or if you gotta get any of the other popular drinks you can get everywhere else. Me I grab a Sundrop for later, and a RC cola and moon pie to have with my sandwich! When you get you sandwich just pull up a seat out front on one of the benches, have your RC, moon pie, and freshly made sandwich and chew the fat with the rest of us! One things for certain! This place is always a pleasure to visit and do business with. :) Between the owner and his employees the atmosphere is welcoming and feels like home the more an individual visits it. The prices of the counter goods are hit or miss but his sandwiches, though just a bit on the pricier side, are well worth it. They're made with Boar's Head meats and cheeses and you always see the sandwich maker wash their hands in front of you if you walk in before/after peak (during peak the designated sandwich maker does not leave the sandwich area and washes their hands as needed therefore it's generally a given that they're hands are clean when making your sandwich if you don't see them do it yourself). I had an unfortunate situation occur at this store and discussed it with the general manager. My situation was immediately addressed with a full and mutually acceptable resolution. I must say that this small retail grocer went above and beyond to fully address my situation. I have known for years about the incredible reputation that the Huff's and their small grocery in Burwood had, but when it was really tested, they came thru with flying colors. This family and their business are first class! They indeed deserve 5 stars, and have certainly upheld their stellar reputation.
