Being a DONOR to this organization is NOT worth the hassle! On two separate occasions now, the pickup guys rejected my donation because the furniture wasn't pristine enough. They are extremely picky, completely unwilling to do light spot cleaning or any improvement whatsoever for donated items. If there is even a small, minor stain or imperfection, they reject your item. But when scheduling over the phone for pickup, no one questions the item or gives any indication that they might refuse to take it away for you. Once again, I'm having to scramble to make last minute arrangements because I can't rely on them to take my furniture as planned. I have a small living space and a new couch being delivered tomorrow. And now I'm stuck with my old couch, trying to figure out an affordable alternative for removal asap. Habitat needs to question people, even review pictures beforehand, if necessary. If they're going to insist on barely-used furniture, they need to assess their donations properly beforehand instead of wasting everyone's time. It's very alienating to donors to make it this difficult. They won't dump the item for you either, even though they planned for the space of your item on their truck for the day. So now I'm stuck paying over $100 for removal costs, or renting a truck by the hour and inconveniencing my family or friends to ask for their last minute help. I'm looking into other alternatives just in case, but you get the idea. Thanks for nothing, Habitat. Two failed pickups is enough. You've lost my...
Read moreThis place use to be great! They couldn't keep anything long cause the prices was right vs. donated items/new & used. It's just become another over priced goodwill. You can actually walk through and people talking about the ridiculously high prices for items donated. Even the new stuff donated an used as tax right offs are ridiculous. Make sure to price check new items. The print outs they put out are not accurate. Now you see the same stuff accumulating from the prices! Just today I priced several used items priced the same or a dollar under new price. Ie. Used flower pot out back (3 gl.) faded & well used for 5.00. Went down the street to Dollor General, same pot 5.00 brand new. Thats just 1 example. Just another business that started to help the community like Goodwill, got greedy! Tried to show an employee a double in cabinet trash can slinder new price marked for 60.00 from Amazon was actually 32.00 on Amazon. Was treated very rudely by counter girl telling me "they can't give things away"...you know like things that was donated free to the store to begin with. Tge manager was more rude then the counter girl. People if you trully want to donate, find a organization that trully cares about helping...
Read moreRecentle I have an horrible experience. I wanted to buy an item that it doesn't fitted in my car. I wanted to pay and came the next day for the item. Because it was close to 5 p. It wouldn't give me time to comeback with the truck. So yes, I asked somebody for a truck, bu when we get there with the truck the item was sold. This wouldn't happen if I was able to pay for the item and holding for more time. This is a place for rich people only. It's un exchange of products between them. They don't accept any payment unless you item pick up immediately the item. Only can holding the item up to 5 pm with out pay the item. So, where is the humane on this? Nothing close with the Habitat store in New Castle, IN. They holding more time the item and also do shipping services free. I hope the manager of this store put attention to this and change the policies of this store, that should be for the services to the poor not to the rich people. Go and see for your own eyes. Prices are to high for lamps up to $100. Etc... now they are put it a price comparison paper on each lamp or some other products. I hope everything change in this store for the real benefits of...
