Update, will increase rating as when I explained the issue and how they work done couldn't equate the cost, he said he would help and dropped the price by an hour. It was much more reasonable.
Very disappointed. Twice I have regretted coming here. Came here with a firend 2 weeks ago, he was about to buy a bike cash and halfway though paperwork was told it was already sold!!
People are friendly but the service tactics to grab money is insane!...
I had a coolant overflow leak start just that morning and i had a broken rear light wire. I SHOWED THE SERVICE GUY A SPLIT COOLANT HOSE, I INFORMED HIM I HAD THE HOSES AND A NEW CAP ON ORDER. AND THEN I SHOWED THE TECH THE BROKEN REAR WIRE. (important)... I had ordered the parts to do the coolant repair myself ($25 cap + $28 hoses).
I decided i liked these guys and would like to give them some work for being honest about the valves. also the owner seems like nice guy, So to support his company too. I'm also skeptical about doing wiring as it is for road saftey reasons.
So I offered them to fix these issues. I also offered to drop coolant parts off I ordered for the repairs but he said no, they want to use their own parts. OK!
(I was previously quoted $300-400 for the valve check/ shim work in conversation with owner before bringing the bike a week prior while my friend tried buying the "sold" bike)
They said they would put 3 hours in total for both coolant and light wire repair ($400+tax) The tech reassured me: I would be "looked after"
I get a phone call 2 days later and the same young guy quickly goes through the repair list. One additional thing suggested was to get a new indicator switch (i ordered the same switch replacement for $30) as power was not coming out from it. He said to do all the work it will be approx $1,700 !!!! I nearly dropped the phone!
I asked what changed, why so expensive!? he spoke fairly fast and said nearly 1.5-2hr would be put on for new hand guards with indicators on front (I told him intially I had front indicators at home already, just not wired into sockets, i didnt ask for this).. so he dropped approx $400 off that to approx $1300 total.
Again I asked why so expensive still, "oh another approx $300 to replace the 3 rad tubes and cap and a coolant flush. I said leave it as i had the parts ordered already as initially informed. Now sits at $800-900.
I asked why expensive still!? he said the new switch for indicators would be $300-400 fitted and take a week. I said no, I would do that myself with my father in law (Mopar mechanic)
So then I asked what was done to the bike regarding the issues I pointed out. He said the broken wire in rear was spliced. The 2 connectors are approx $20 and a compression test was done on the rad, it confirmed the faulty cap causing overflow.
I said ok, how much for the comp test and wire splice?.... $430!!
So the 2 issues THAT I SHOWED THEM, I GOT CHARGED $400 FOR IT TO BE TOLD BACK TO ME, NOT FIXED (minus the time to splice a wire and a compression test...really 3 HOURS!!?) I found the issues and brought them to him and they just confirmed, patched a wire and charged the full $430!
I have no problem paying for radiator comp test and wire splice. But don't feed me back the info I already gave you, so to fix, only to charge me for the hours it would have taken to fix it in the 1st place!... instead the obvious was "inspected" and charged, then they try hit you with the real bill. Classic "bait the hook" tactic!
For comparison, the mechanic I initially called when i first got my bike quoted me $1200 to inspect the entire bike, including top end, shim valves and inspect piston. And also remove, strip, clean and...
Read moreWas in the market for a Kawasaki KFX90 for my kids and Brute Force 750 for myself. The KFX 90 wasn't in stock at most Kawasaki dealers in my area. Called Scott Powersports to check if they had one in stock and they did. The salesman, Brandon, asked if I would be coming in and I informed him that I lived an hour away and would be there as soon as I could.
Upon arriving, I located the KFX90 in the showroom and shortly after I was approached by Brandon. No smile, no handshake(until initiated by me). He asked if I was getting someone started riding. I told him I had an 8 year old son who currently rides and needed another 4 wheeler for my daughters. Before I could even finish my story, Brandon informs me that he won't sell me the KFX90 because I told him I have an 8 year old. My obvious first reaction was that he was kidding. I understand there are recommendations of age ranges for ATV's, but surely this wouldn't prevent me from purchasing one. Unfortunately, he refused to sell me the atv stating that there are regulations that prevent him from selling to me and that "He" could lose "his" franchise. I informed him that I have a 12 yo daughter and regardless of that said, I, as an adult, am buying this, why does it matter what I use it for? He said "sorry. nothing I can do." So, I left him with a few choice words and stormed out.
Two hours of driving wasted and I left with a pocket full of money. I wasn't going to give them the sale of the brute force after telling me my money was no good there for the KFX 90.
Overall experience was horrible. Sales person was rude before even getting the conversation started and zero customer service skills. I've never met a sales person that refused my business.
UPDATE: Interestingly enough, I had a conversation with Bill Jenkins, SVP of Sales Operations at Kawasaki USA about my experience at the dealership. He clarified the regulations and laws that Kawasaki is bound by. I still think the sale could've been completed with further discussion, as at no time would he have recommended something that went against the regulations. At any rate, my experience could have much different if the sales person had some decorum and professionally explained the situation, as Mr. Jenkins did. It would've been nice for the details on the phone before I made the trip. I was simply left with a "your money is no good here" feeling. Bottom line, the lack of customer service skills will result in me not returning, as well as not recommending the...
Read moreI spoke with Ron several times by phone and he seemed like a nice guy to work with. It took about 3 weeks to arrange a date for a test ride because of the freezing weather (Nothing to do with the dealership). I called to confirm the day (before I drove over an hour and a half for a test ride of a used Yamaha FJ09 and my riding partner met me from 2 hours away to also test ride) and Ron said we were all set. Although the bike wasn't out front ready to go at the arranged time (like we planned) and Ron had zero recollection of any of our conversations (-10 for salesmanship), Ron was okay with us taking out two motorcycles for test rides because my riding partner was interested in another used model. We test rode and loved the used Yamaha FJ09. We came back inside and waited for a quote for over 25 minutes. I know this because I was planning on being back home and kept a very close eye on the time. When we got the OTD quote, it was over priced, which I knew when I came down. The used FJ09 (with full luggage, 1800 miles, and only 6 months of warranty left) was $1400 more than a brand new FJ09 at another dealership. Ron didn't believe it, so I had him pull up the price in front of me on his computer. It seemed like Ron was willing to try to negotiate, but it wasn't clear at that moment.
Then thankfully, the Finance Manager Clint came over and said they would not negotiate a price because he had a friend who would buy it at full price. He also told me that I was better off with the new bike, since it was such a good idea. I thought Cliff was the biggest _ that day because we had the cash for the bike (less the credit card balance). I stand corrected though...Cliff helped me out because I got a brand new Yamaha FJ09 for much less. With all my accessories that I bought aftermarket for my bike, which is more than on their bike, it cost less than their OTD.
I still think this place does very poor business, but I gave 2 stars because of the ease of test ride and because I ended up with a better deal based on their suggestion....
