Enjoyed the great spring weather this weekend with some great libations at Recklesstown distillery. Things you should probably know: 1. Make your trip weather dependent we were in hot sun and there were no umbrellas outside yet for the season. They were able to reseat our reservations inside but she placed us next to the bar area where we could hear 2. LOL - The host stated, "we're full today, let me see if I can reseat you." 2/3 of the outside tables were empty and no one was inside seated with us. For the 1 hour we stayed that was the entire crowd. 3. Grass is uneven and you need to walk over a pile of drainage rocks. I nearly watched someone with a cane fall over as they were escorted uphill to a picnic table. 4. I never drink and noticed the drinks are absolutely filled with ice. So ice men were ordering their drinks for themselves two at a time. I watched 3 different men order two drinks at a time. The men would pick up their drink order and chug one inside really fast before rejoining their family outside. They would walk back to their table slowly sipping their "first" drink.

This place could be great, but it's lacking in a few areas: 1. Ordering through a Kiosk was great for COVID, but it's not an experience that sells drinks. When I visit a place like this, I want to hear about the passion that makes your drinks great, you don't get that being seated at a table and ordering off a tablet. 2. The seating is less lounge type and more restaurant. Some better, more, inviting seating would keep people for longer. 3. The no pets policy, I don't admit to know why pets are not allowed, and there could be many reasons but if changed, this place could attract a fun, and younger clientele. That said, the drinks are great, but not well illustrated by the ordering tablet. I can't say much about the service because the only interaction e got was really just a runner for the drinks and someone who seated us. This is very much the same experience that a vending machine provides.

I'm not really into cocktails. Much more of a bourbon neat type of guy. I was expecting to be sandblasted by sweetness with my cocktail selection. I was very pleasantly surprised by the balance of alcohol, sugar and bitters. My cocktail was dangerously gulpable. I'd still choose a pour of bourbon if given the choice, but I was impressed enough to commit to returning to explore new cocktail creations from the dutiful in-house mixologist.

Recklesstown Farm Distillery is a welcomed and wonderful new addition to the area. They have farm inspired, creative cocktails made with their delicious spirits. There is a menu of various drinks and a specials board with mixed libations that take advantage of whatever is currently plentiful on the local farm scene. The beautiful new building that houses their operation is warm and inviting with ample room for visitors. We each sampled two of their inventive elixirs and they did not disappoint. We will soon be back to try more. The property also has a great outdoor area with a patio, tables & chairs, fire pits, and games such as corn-hole; and it's a family friendly environment where you don't have to be afraid to bring the kids. There isn't any food sold on premises because of NJ laws. However the owners couldn’t be more accommodating and you’re allowed to bring in your own food or order from one of the nearby establishments. Next time you have guests in town or you're just looking for something to do on a weekend afternoon or evening ... head on over to Recklesstown Farm Distillery for a laid back, relaxed vibe and a sampling of their...
