Okay first of all, IGNORE the address people put below to get to the falls. Doesnât work. It takes you to crab tree rd which is nowhere near the falls and so does the mile marker 339.5. But thatâs the GPS fault. In order to get to the initial point where youâll begin your hike, search for âCRABTREE MEDOWS CAMPGROUNDâ on your gps. Itâll take you to the parking lot where the âclosed storeâ is that everyone talks about. Also, google maps and Waze both said the blue ridge parkway was closed, but it wasnât. Best way to find out is call NC DOT or just go drive and see for yourself.
As far as the hike and the falls goes, they are beautiful! The hike is a little challenging if youâre out of shape and not used to the altitude. Make sure you have got boots and some water. My wife and I did the entire loop and it was 2.67 miles from parking lot to parking lot, according to my...
Read moreThis is a very nice waterfall and it is worth going to if you have the time. Be prepared to share the experience though with lots of other people. This is a very popular waterfall along the parkway. A roughly one mile trail, if you turn right at the loop, will take you down a steep but wide trail with stairs. If you turn left the trail is much flatter to start but is about 1.6 miles to reach the falls. When you get close to the falls the trail becomes very steep and should only be attempted by experiences hikers. This section also would be dangerous with small children. Crabtree falls is lovely at any time of the year but if you want to skip the crowds, visiting in March or early April on a weekday will ensure you do not have to share the experience with too...
Read moreDo not drive to this location if you want to view a waterfall. This location does have a waterfall but it is located through the woods with no public access. Only private property access. Please do not make the same mistake we did and drive to this location looking for a scenic waterfall.
Use the address for Crabtree Falls Campground for parking.
39000 Blue Ridge Pkwy Burnsville, NC 28714
You will have to hike to the location where the water is located from Crabtree Falls Campground. Unfortunately, I cannot give you a review of the hike because we waisted half the day looking for location above. We were not able to make the trip because Blue Ridge Pkwy was closed on the side we were coming from. Hope this post helps...
