Staci Holtsclaw and her family had their family pet Sadie for 3 years. Sadie is a Pitbull Mix that is 4 years old. Sadie was more than a pet, Sadie was a member of their family. Sadie loved Staci's two children Kasen & Maggie. On Sept. 10th 2014,Staci's home encountered a power outage causing the underground fencing to not function properly and Sadie wandered off. At the time Sadie wandered off she was wearing her collar for the fencing that was registered to Staci's address of 1908 Carter's Ridge Drive, Spruce Pine, N.C. 28777. On Sept.10th Staci contacted the local animal rescue. She gave them a description of Sadie as well as her telephone number pleading with them to contact her if anyone turned in her family's pet. Staci heard nothing from them. Again on Sept.18 2014 Staci contact them and ask if they had a dog matching Sadie's description turned in and once again she was told no. Staci left her telephone number and begged them to call her if anyone turned Sadie in. Staci's children have been heart broken over Sadie. A few weeks went by and the family assumed something terrible must of happened to Sadie or surely they would have heard something. Then on Oct. 8, 2014 the Rescue posted a picture of "Willow" a.k.a. "Sadie". She was adopted out as Willow. Staci immediately called them asking when they got the dog "Willow" and was told on Sept. 12 (? remember she called on Sept. 18 and they had no dog matching Sadie s description). The person she spoke with told her someone would have to call her back. The person called her back and told her there was nothing they could do. They also took down "Willow" a.k.a. "Sadie"'s picture. Staci contacted the magistrate's office and was told that in order to file a Civil Suit it will cost $160.00. We are a group of people just like you are. We are just trying to help this family with getting their family member back. There is a picture of the dogs pic and it shows there were 12 comments and all but 3 were deleted. It also shows that the dog has been there a couple of weeks as of Sept 29 and then the screen shot of Staci s cell phone call to them on Sept 18 when they said they didn't have the dog. She did leave her info for them but they say there is no record...
Read moreIt takes a massive heart to work in the rescue industry and the staff here has proven time and time again that their hearts never close to the needs of animals. They deeply LOVE and PROTECT the staggering number of neglected animals in our community.
MCAR is a pillar in our community!
Did you know? -If you find an injured or dying animal after hours, you can call 911 and they will have a staff member meet you at MCAR. If the animal can be saved they will take them to the nearest emergency vet and pay for all their needs! If they cannot be saved they will compassionately assist with their transition. -If an animal of your own needs emergency medical care and you cannot afford it, they will assist with veterinary bills and/or euthanasia. There is ABSOLUTELY no reason to leave your animal in crisis due to the fear of cost. -If you know of an animal being neglected, they can facilitate an investigation to check on that animal.
MCAR does so much more than rescue animals and find their loving fur-ever homes. They are the protectors and providers for our animal community, all while maintaining the LOVE and COMPASSION in their hearts.
As a community we are lucky to have MCAR to turn to in our time of need.
Thank you MCAR for the profound support you provide for our community. I am GRATEFUL for all of you and I hold a special LOVE in my heart for your team of WARRIORS.
And a Special Gratitude to Aimee for all the times you offered us your guiding, deeply empathetic, hand when we were lost.

Read moreI drove all the way to NC from CT to get my daughters dog and 6 puppies that were pounded due to a legal issue. I spoke with Amber who stated it was fine that I went to get Colby. I unfortunately had to get to my daughter immediately and sent a community outreach worker in my place, after speaking with Heather who OK'd him picking up the dog. When the authorized individual showed up, he was denied picking up my daughters dog. Stated that there was a North Carolina statute that prevented him from picking up the dog. When he challenged the law, she in turn called a Sheriff having the outreach worker removed from the facility. I plan on suing this facility for emotional damages. My daughter has lost her dog that was like a baby to her. Amber and Heather, I do not appreciate you not keeping your word. This is far from over. Plain and simple, you did not give my daughter her dog back because you stigmatized her; which by the way was VERY unprofessional on your part; you do now know her, her family or where she comes from. You should be ashamed...
