Dollar General — Local services in Spurgeon

Overall I like the convenience & prices of Dollar General. Much faster than a trip to the grocery store or Walmart if DG has what I need. Most of the basics, can be found at DG. The only reasons for not giving it 5 stars are as follows: 1) the DG in Gray is terribly over packed. Often difficult to get through isles due to large rolling racks of merchandise waiting to be put out. I don't fault the employees as it seems to be understaffed & there is no room for the amount of merchandise they have. Clothing racks are insanely over packed to the point I don't know how anyone could begin to look through them. The store clearly does the volume or they wouldn't have that amount of merchandise. Imagine if they had a larger store- like several of the newer ones. 2) is watch to see that sale prices/ coupons are correct. It's very common for me to later notice I was overcharged when checking my receipt. Associates have also complained that not all sales are entered into there system...

Updated: the store is Under New Management , the isles are free and clear of clutter!!! Had the opportunity to meet the gentleman that has taken over the store, he has extremely friendly, helpful, and is exactly what this store needed! I live just a few miles from here and avoided this store due to the disarray. I believe I will begin shopping this store once again.

Though customer service is almost always acceptable (there are dumb young boys that take their idea of humor one-step too far) I give this location 1 star because the last several times I have shopped here over the last 3 or so months, the store has been a wreck. I mean, hazardous and ridiculous. Please look at my pictures. More than half the isles are impassible or blocked off all together. Today, i couldn't even get what I needed because I couldn't move the large baracades out of the way to squeeze myself into the isle, let alone my cart. I cannot get no one to ring me up today 9-1-2023. I Cashier told me that the Employee check out Does not work and That I have to use self check out. While the employee watches me do it. Do you know how insulting that feels. To have someone watch you to make sure you don't steal. I don't want to ring them up That's their job. I work my job to pay them for the groceries to be ring up for me. To be forced to use the self checkout. Do I not have the right to ask for a discount?
