I adore this meat market! Their customer service is GRRRRREAT when dealing with the right emoloyee. I highly suggest you ask to be taken care of by Karen. She ALWAYS has a smile on her face. She is ALWAYS eager to assist in any way she can. Whether it be answering questions or suggesting prime pieces of meat. She has continuously taken wonderful care of my family. She is truly a PLEASURE! The quality of their meat is unlike most as well. Being a California native prior to moving here to the Midwest it was hard to find quality butcher shops that do just about it all. A friend suggested Wenneman's 4 years ago when I first moved here & I've been a loyal, satisfied customer since! Their brats, pork steaks, ribeyes, tbones, breakfast sausage, bacon, smokies, ground beef & lunch meat have always made our 30 minute trip well worth while. If you haven't been here. Start planning your trip! You won't be...
Read moreI can't speak for the products sold in the store only seer processing. With that said, I took a small 5 point deer in to have processed. My deer was field dressed and iced immediately. I took it to Wennemans to have processed and told them my cuts I wanted. I picked up my deer several days later. The steaks off of this deer are huge!!! I have had deer growing up but this stuff was bad tasting. With a small 5 point deer properly handled in the field I can tell you the steaks shouldn't taste like this even after hours of marinade. The meat is tough, and tastes horrid. I highly doubt I received my actual deer back. It was more than likely someone else's. This is not the first time mind you. I 'll never take another deer here again and advise elsewhere such as Lehr's in New Athens as to where you will get your actual deer back...
Read moreI am a third-generation buyer of wenneman meats. My family has come from smithton Illinois to purchase meat from this company. However that has changed from two weeks ago. My wife and I walked into the meat market and check their meats they were good as always however all the prices were removed we asked him how much it would cost and they would not give us the price. We ended up getting roughly 20 lb of meat and paid over $160 for it. my wife check the itemized stub once we get out of the store I found out that we had paid $10 a pound for stew meat. The other items or high as well. There's absolutely no excuse for price gouging. We went down the wallers meat market and paid half of what we got at wenneman's. It's sad to say I will not be going back to the price gouging wenneman's meat market. It's sad that it has to...
