Franz Witte — Local services in Star

Shopping at Franz Witte is totally frustrating. First of all it’s located in Caldwell, but I’m totally willing to drive there from Boise if I know they have what I want. The problem originates from the people in the garden center not providing accurate information over the phone. It happened to me last summer, so this summer I was very specific in what I asked for. I was told they had five of the hydrangea varieties I wanted, which was a “tiny” variety as opposed to a “little” variety. Of course, when I got there, they had misinformed me. I was told they might have one of the tiny varieties, but not sure. I was sent on a wild goose chase, trying to find the hydrangea among the disorganized area of hydrangeas. They need to take a lesson from Far West nursery on how to arrange their varietals. I eventually found a hydrangea that it might be, however, it had no tag so was left wondering what variety it actually was. I wasn’t willing to spend over $50 on a plant I had no idea if it was what I was really looking for. Getting useful help from someone in the plant section was equally dissatisfying. When it comes right down to it, I think Franz Witte is more of a contractors’ garden center and not one catering to the average gardener. They charge premium prices and don’t provide premium service. After reviewing different landscape designers and talking to people, we decided to use Franz Witte to relandscape our yard. HOA’s including ours liked working with them, especially the architectural committees. Upon our decision Franz Witte assigned Jake Koppes as our designer. We worked with him in the fall to come up with a design within our budget that would be implemented in June. Our aspirations were high because we wanted a low maintenance but nice looking yard. Jake came up with a design that was cost effective, used some existing plants and trees and met our requirements. He was on top of coordinating the crew and got it done in a timely matter. What really impressed us was that after the job was completed, he had no issue with coming back to help us with any issues or questions we had. UPDATE: 10/10/22 Today I spoke with Jeffery (sorry if I'm misspelling your name) and she was wonderful. She was able to honor the website flyer and I got my cute yard art. She even helped us pick out another plant for your yard. She went over and beyond and was so very gracious. We love the selection there and will be adding more plants to our yard soon.

10/8/22 Today was the first day I was disappointed after visiting Franz Witte. I went with the purpose of buying a piece of yard art I had seen because their flyer and website said all non metal yard art was 40% off. When I was there I was told it didn't include the one I wanted. The flyer and website said nothing about any exclusions so I felt they should have honored the advertisement. I notice now the non metal yard art has been removed from the website and the flyers were thrown away when...
