Winn-Dixie — Local services in Starke

We are a family of 6 that lives down the street from Harvey's. We've lived here almost a year and loved going there for little things we need but due to the family size we kept going to walmart in Starke. For multiple reasons it's been getting less and less helpful to go to Walmart. Lanes closed, making me self checkout, not very helpful staff if you can even find them and the long trek is just so much for me since I'm disabled. My husband is away in the Army a lot so it's a lot for me and the kids to do shopping. Today, pandemic+walmart=nope. So I decided to go to harveys for our full 2 weeks shopping. Their prices might be a bit higher than Walmart but it's not really bad, not like Hitchcock's prices. They always have a bunch of sales which is super helpful and they had just about 95% of what we needed. When I asked someone if they had romaine not only did someone go in the back and get me a large beautiful head, he brought a bag and put it in the bag. I was still able to stay under budget and when my son and I got to the checkout counter, one of the cashiers stopped what he was doing (no customers in his lane) unloaded my entire cart, got 2 baggers to help bag stuff, got another cart to load things into since we had so much, and our cashier asked if we needed help to the truck which was so nice and the other guy even helped load the truck. It almost made me cry how helpful and kind the staff was when I was there. I will definitely be returning everytime it's just us and my husband is away. Great bogo deals, clean as can be.. but rude, and allow things caught on camera to be ignored, and actually could make people very sick yes the deli but it's not all of them but the alcoholic drunk drinking whiskey right behind their backs and they know it but worst part is the fact that they knew she would not temp the hot food ever, or change outdated hot chicken that could kill people. And let a girl.go cuz she turned it in also the assistant manager who is an absolute Ludacris narcissist will make u feel like a peon under her authority ..cuz she can she thinks...and if u talk back to her she will literally lie and demean u just cuz she is an entitled lil girl who knows nothing about being any kind of boss or have respect for anyone but her and laugh cuz u quit cuz she made u feel like a servant who is oy there to please you. .3 months of dealing with HR.and I lost my job. Everyone but 3 people were glad I lost my job when every one of them knew exactly what was up. Don't eat the fried chicken if u go in evening after 4 if the person is still there cuz that chicken has been there all day cold nshe does not care...also was told one day to keep my mouth shut about the rancid rotten chicken and rinse it...

For the most part, this place is OK , had a couple of bad ones here with bad milk and mold on chocolate milk but it's milk and it's Florida, the two are a bad combo. And my only other complaint is about this sugar free flavored water I drink which they normally stock. One day while in the store shopping I grabbed all of them they had left and one of the gentlemen noticed me and was like so your the one buying all these waters .I said I was guilty of it and he said he was the one who ordered them and if I would like he will order extra so I may come in and ask for a stock person to just go out back and grab the water by the case for me and I agreed that I would buy at least 2 or 3 cases every week and since that day forward I am lucky if they have ever had my water ever again ..they never have any out back and maybe once every month now I am lucky if they even have a bottle or two on the shelf....what up with that... I know some products have been difficult to get so I am chalking it up to that, hopefully this will change soon . Other than that, this place has been ok and i still continue...
