Yesterday, 29 April 2021, I took my truck in for a scheduled appointment to have an Oil Change, a Tire Rotation, and a State Safety Inspection. I will start with the good news. When I scheduled the appointment, I thought I still had one free oil change remaining from when I purchased the truck from them. The service rep let me know that the time had run out at the end of March. He let me know that due to COVID, people had been less likely to go out, and that he'd would grant me courtesy extension. That was the good news. When I showed up for my 0830 appointment at 0800, I checked in with my service rep. We went over what was to be done, and I informed him that I did not want to have my vehicle washed. I let him know that I just had it waxed the day before and I did not want to get water spots on it. He let me know that he understood and would annotate it. Approximately 2 hours later the service representative came into me and let me know that my vehicle did not pass inspection due to torn wiper blades and wanted to know if I wanted to have them replaced. I asked him how much it would be and he said approximately $50. I asked him if he could bring my vehicle out so I could go to Walmart pick up a set of wiper blades and replace them and come back and get the inspection sticker installed. He said that would be not be a problem. When my vehicle pulled up, it was soaking wet and the door too the gas fill was missing. I asked the rep if that was my truck. He said yes. I asked him one, why is it wet? And two, where is the door to my gas fill area? Apparently they had driven my truck through the car wash and the brushes of the car wash had removed the door to my gas fill area. He proceeded to walk down to the car wash area where he found the missing part laying on the floor. He was able to reattach the component, but it did have scratches on it. He apologized for the car being washed and the door issue, and offered to have the entire vehicle detail. I let him know that I did not want anybody there touching my truck. I went to Walmart and picked up two high quality wiper blade refills for a total of $20 and replace my wiper blades. I then drove back to the dealership in order to get the state inspection sticker installed on my vehicle. The service rep drove my vehicle back to the vehicle tech area, and I ended up waiting approximately another 30+ minutes for the vehicle to be ready. I departed the service area at 1200. Additionally, the first time I had the oil changed I had requested that they do not wash my vehicle. When they pulled my vehicle in to give it back to me it was soaking wet. I asked them if they could get me a towel or a chamois so that I could drive the vehicle before taking it out and allowing the water spots to dry in the paint. They found me a towel and I stayed in the exit bay and...
Read moreI wish there was an option to select 0 or even Negative Stars! I will never recommend this joke of a Dealership to anyone again. I called and spoke to a Sales Manager and told him that I was interested in trading in my current vehicle for a new GMC Terrain that he had there on his Lot. He advised me that a Sales Person would call me right back. I received a call from a Salesman a short time later and I advised him of what I was interested in doing. I provided all of my personal information and all of the information on the vehicle that I was trading in. I even made it clear that I was coming with money in hand for a down payment. The vehicle that I was interested in purchasing was roughly 28,000 dollars and I was trading in a 2015 Ford Mustang. I received a call later that day with a rough estimate of what my new payment would be. After discussing this with my wife, I called back the next day to advise the Salesman that I would be there later in the day to purchase the vehicle. I was commuting 1.5 hours to do so. Approximately 30 minutes later, the Salesman called me back with some "good news" and some "bad news". He explained to me that the quote he had given me the day before was based on a price that included some "customer cash" that his Manager was allowed to use. At this point, the "customer cash" had been used for someone else on the purchase of their Vehicle and was no longer available to me as promised the previous day. The "good news"....... they had a good deal on a mini van, which was not even close to the type of vehicle I was interested in purchasing. Because this "customer cash" was no longer available, the payment would have to increase even more than what I was originally told. Simply put, I was lied to and they must have thought I was an idiot to continue business with them after they tried to scam me. I ended up making a purchase from a Dealer in Charlottesville and got the same exact vehicle for 10,000 dollars cheaper and did not have any negative equity on my trade. Oh yeah, they were honest with me too. Save yourself some trouble, regardless of what commercial you hear about "Obaugh" on the radio, I can guarantee it is not the truth and they will try to scam you and lie to you too. I wouldn't even buy a skateboard from this place,...
Read moreAwesome vehicle purchase experience! My truck purchase was not your standard purchasing process. I had researched and done test drives at other dealerships closer to my home over the past number of months and I knew exactly what I wanted. I reached out via email to a number of dealerships within a couple of hundred miles of my home with the details of what I was looking to purchase (Charlie Obaugh GMC is 145 miles from my home). I let them all know I had done my research, driven the truck and that now I wanted to negotiate the best OTD price I could. I explained that I would need to do this via email and not in person. Although I began corresponding with five dealerships who all had the vehicle I wanted on their lot, only Carol Burns at Charlie Obaugh GMC made it an easy and efficient negotiation. We quickly got to the point, exchanged a few emails and then came to an acceptable OTD number. It was at this point that I first made phone contact with her. She emailed the offer sheet, I paid a deposit over the phone with a credit card and set a date and time to come in and pick up the vehicle. Carol Burns, Chris Tortorice (General Sales Manager) and Mark Puit (Finance) were all fantastic in working with me through this process. Any hick-ups or questions that came up were quickly and efficiently taken care of to my satisfaction via text, phone or email. I had never been to, and had never met Carol or anyone else at this dealership face to face until I walked into purchase and take delivery of my new truck. The day I picked up my truck Carol had everything organized and ready to go. I was in, papers signed, monies paid and out on the road in my new truck in 30 minutes. This dealership has some fantastic people working for it, which speaks volumes for the ownership and management. I believe that having great people as employees is a key component in what makes a business great, and this dealership has some great people. If you need a vehicle and this dealership sells it, then by all means, give them a chance to...
