I'm sad to be writing this review as CMP Weddings is very proud of their 5 star reviews. They were also a recommended vendor by our wedding venue. However, what we experienced was less than perfect and are the biggest/saddest issues we think back to about our wedding.
Positives: Rick was very personable over the phone and had a great package that included indoor and outdoor set-up for ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception as well as a digital photobooth. They had an online portal that made planning easy in theory. The dance floor during the reception was packed the whole evening and many people complimented the music. The photobooth was a big hit for photos and boomerang videos.
However... -The online portal was apparently upgraded and deleted pages the day before our final meeting with Rick (one week before our wedding) so he had to restore it and we needed to pick our music all over again -He played the wrong entrance song for our bridal party ceremony processional. It was supposed to be a piano cover of Lover by Taylor Swift and instead he played Love Story. I pointed this mistake out to the bridal attendant while my dad and I were waiting to walk next, and she must have told him, because he did come over to us during dinner and apologize. This makes me sad though because they are pretty different vibes and not what we were going for. -The mics for our ceremony were apparently set up too far in advance and died and we had to wait for both the official's mic and the stand mic for readers to be fixed in the middle of the ceremony -After going over name pronunciations in our final planning meeting and at the wedding itself while lined up, he got several wrong in the bridal party reception entrance announcements -My dance with my dad got cut off short at the end and he audibly said "oops" into his mic when it happened -He completely did not play our dinner vibe/playlist/must play songs. This was one of the biggest disappointment as we wanted all Frank Sinatra vibes as a tribute to my grandfather and for both of our parents' wedding songs to be played during this time, and instead it was a generic pop love song playlist. Not sure if this had to do with the issues of their portal the days earlier. -I had very detailed notes about all of this in the portal, and Rick just kept reassuring that he reviewed it all and we had nothing to worry about, with undertones that I was going overboard by outlining it all. Yet all of this still happened. -There was a second DJ with him for the night, but it seemed more like he was training her than she was actually helping and focusing on our wedding. We thought the second person would be to help operate the photobooth, but nobody was ever over there. I as the bride had to explain to several people what buttons to push to start it and text the photos to themselves.
Many of these in isolation would have been fine, but how many of them happened was really surprising and I felt the need to write this review because of how much they brag about their 5 stars over social media. I think they let their ego get to them and weren't actually focused on making our day perfect. If we were to re-plan our wedding, we would definitely re-book a...
Read moreWe recently had booked World Record DJâs for our wedding in Sterling, MA in late July. During the planning meetings, we dealt with Matt, but Ryan actually performed at our event. We had, what we thought, was going to be a tricky wedding as far as music needs. We had 3 different locations which required music, all on the same property; our ceremony was at a gazebo, our cocktail hour was on an outdoor patio, and the reception started inside the venue.
The ceremony: We had the DJ provide the music for our processional and recessional. They also provided a microphone for our officiant to wear, and a mic with a stand for our readings, all outdoors. The audio quality was excellent, and one of the microphones even picked up me and my brideâs voices as we were reciting our vows, etc. It was a high quality audio experience.
Cocktail Hour: We had the cocktail hour on a patio. They also had speakers in this area for our guests to enjoy. The music out here was at a perfect volume. We also continued the music outside for the entirety of the reception.
Reception: Ryan handled the intros, exceptionally. We had a few names that were difficult to pronounce, but Matt worked with us to get phonetic spellings, and when the time came, Ryan got everything right. He kept the pace of the event moving, and he had all of the versions of the songs that we needed for our newlywed intro, as well as our father/daughter, mother/son dances.
Now, I have to give Ryan a lot of credit. No one was dancing. We told Matt previously, and Ryan before the wedding started that they should not take it personally if no one was dancing. This was not a dancing crowd. My wife and I have been together for 7 years, and we have danced a total of 5 times, including our wedding. Our friends and family arenât dancers either. The weather was gorgeous, and we had yard games, so everyone (I mean everyone) was outside, just socializing, playing games, and it was great. And actually, the music ended up being a very important part of the enjoyment outside.
Music selection: Weâre fairly young, but we have a strange taste in music. Weâre not into modern country and weâre mostly into older stuff from the 70âs and 80âs. We supplied Matt and Ryan with a list of maybe 10 songs, and from that list they put together a playlist for the entire 4 hour event. Their music selections were absolutely perfect. We didnât get a single modern country song, which was very important. The care they put into this was apparent.
These two guys (Matt and Ryan) really have it together from a service standpoint. Every step was super-easy, and laid back. Matt in particular has a knack for keeping the meetings both incredibly professional, and laid back and fun.
I canât stress enough how happy we are that we picked World Record DJâs to perform our wedding. They were first class all the way. ...
Read moreI can't tell you how happy we were with Matt and his services for our wedding this past weekend. When we originally met Matt, it was because we had a schedule conflict with our previous DJ. Our previous DJ, who was also amazing contacted Matt who just happened to have our date open and available. It was pure luck during peak wedding season. Matt immediately took us on and was so great to work with. He went over the process with us, assisted us in walking through the schedule and so much more.
He did something I think few other people take so much care in, which was pronouncing all 16 wedding party members and our families names correctly. He clarified with us multiple times up to the actual day of the ceremony which meant an awful lot to our family and friends. He also asked us for a playlist of music we liked and played music tailored to that. We told him we weren't heavy club hits, remix, crazy typical party music kind of people and he delivered an exceptional playlist for us. We're younger people but our taste in music is ALL over the place. He came through.
He had the perfect flow and cutoffs for our wedding songs including: the wedding party entrance, my wife's entrance, the wedding party exit and welcome back after the ceremony was completed. We had four very different songs for this and he delivered perfectly. Our friends and family commented all night on how amazing he was and how great of a job he did.
He also made the bridal scavenger hunt my wife wanted to do the BEST moment of the night. There was so much laughter, competition and memories from that one event he hosted for us. I would highly recommend him for something like that too, he really nailed it. When we were ready to end the night, even though it was a little early, he was totally willing to work with us.
From the microphone checks, to the music played, to the games, to the schedule to accommodating us with little changes all night to the overall upbeat, fun and welcoming personality, Matt was just perfect for us. He works with you to make everything so incredibly amazing. I would HIGHLY recommend him for any wedding, or other event where you may need music. You will not be disappointed at all. We can't thank him enough for making our day so special!
Matt, you're...
